I tightened the cap too tight on my original unit, thus cracking it. I found an original replacement cap, but it was twice the cost of this unit. I bought this was and was pleasantly surprised to see the build quality. It's heavier duty than the original and thus less likely to break if you accidentally tighten it woo much.

This cap fits great. For whatever reason, these break frequently but their replacement is a great price.

Replacement part works like it should

VERY disappointed because this new cap fit my Bissell 1940A steam mop water tank perfectly but the mop wasn’t pulling water from the tank so it’s defective. When your steam mops water tank runs empty you start hearing a noise from the mop because it’s trying to pull water but there isn’t any. Anyone with this steam mop knows this, however I had water in the tank & the new lid on & the steam mop was making that noise as if it couldn’t pull water from the tank. It still produced a little bit of steam and wetness but barely and it made a weird smell like it was going to burn out my steam mop.I immediately switched back to my old cracked cap which still works and tried that to make sure it wasn’t my mop and my old cap worked fine and produced a lot of steam and didn’t make that noise, so I’m highly disappointed. My original cap cracked so I wanted a new one even though my original cap still works. I was so happy the new cap it fit so well and I had high hopes just to be let down. So I unfortunately do not recommend & will be returning & looking for another one elsewhere.

So, the first one they sent, I inadvertently threw in the garbage so had to order another one. Outside of that stupidity, it is an excellent replacement for the original part.

The the cap on the reservoir for my Bissell steam mop cracked, and I was sure I was going to need to buy a replacement mop. I did finally find the replacement part from Bissel, but it was very expensive and would have been a long wait. I finally checked on Amazon and found these. They arrived quickly and work perfectly... I even have a "spare" now if the problem develops again.

They don’t quite fit right. They work but when the water gets low in the tank you have to constantly push the tank down because it pops out due to being a bit off on size
