I know Silhouette doesn't like you to use non-standard equipment, but they are super bad at maintaining stock of their expensive brand-name stuff, so... what the heck!! Go for it! Who can stop you?! I find these still hold on to sticker paper a little too ferociously for my liking when they're brand-new. I usually roll a clean sweater over them for a while until the surface is less sticky. They are also slightly thicker and less pliable than Silhouette's mats, so with thicker materials they'll be more likely to cause some issues with pressure or jamming. Translucent or transparent materials with registration marks on them might be more trouble on these mats. I recommend these for people who are experienced with troubleshooting the Silhouette because you'll be able to tell better if/when the mat is what's giving you trouble. A bonus of the thicker material is that it's harder to accidentally cut through them. I use these primarily to cut vinyl stickers, and they work great for that. When they lose most of their tackiness, they're excellent for cardstock. I usually make a note in sharpie directly on the mat where it is in its life cycle. It's great to have these around! It preserves the life of my brand-name mats for when I actually do need them.

These are a bit smaller than the actual portrait 4 mat, but they work perfectly fine and seem like they're made just as well. They are incredibly cheap compared to the real thing and I recommend these!

When you peel the plastic layer, the adhesive on the mat has a pretty strong smell. I don't mind it. The stickiness is really nice and definitely not too strong. I used cardstock that was thick but fragile with its layers, and it only had a bit of peeling. You can tell from the writing on the mat that it is third party, but it definitely has quality to it.

I liked that the adhesive was nice and strong. But when using 651 vinyl with paper backing it separated from the vinyl and stuck to the mat. You may lose adhesive when trying to remove the paper from the mat.

The product itself deserves a 5 star rating. They work great, are economical, I am very happy with the product. But when I got it, I almost sent them back. Why? There is a clear covering on the mats that covers the sticky part. It blends in perfectly and makes it appear that you got a defective unsticky mat. There is NO indication that this is a clear covering over the sticky mat that you have to peel off. If you are used to brand name mats that have opaque covering over the sticky portion, this is confusing. A simple instruction or SOME kind of indication that there is a clear covering that must be removed first. We have all heard of people who have walked into crystal clear sliding glass doors because they are not marked. Analogous to these mats. I am glad I discovered by accident that there was an invisible layer that needed to be removed. I am glad I didn’t send them back. To the seller: a little instruction card in the package would make it easier for new users.

My silhouette machine actually cuts better when I use these than it did with the original mat. They're nice mats, sticky but not too sticky, and a good thickness. Slightly stiffer and thicker than the original mat but that seems to be a good thing. Shipping was fast and the price is good.

I am not sure if I received a bad batch, but each literally lasted one day. The adhesiveness wore off with only a few uses, literally. The material is durable enough to run through the sillohoute machine, but again the sticky part only lasted a few times.

These were great until they weren't. Not very sticky and didn't last half as long as my other mats.
