Barrel return spring broken and poor corrosion resistance prevented disconnection.
This seemed like a good value product, however after a few months use it would not release the male connector. Two issues: 1. Broken barrel spring jammed preventing the barrel releasing. 2. Corrosion build-up prevented the barrel/ring from moving back fully to release the connector, maybe causing the spring to break too. The spring is clearly of poor quality, and the grade 'stainless steel' the body is made from is problematic. The barrel appears to have corroded slightly less. Generally the connector worked OK until it didn't. The fitting has been used - connected/disconnected maybe 20 times in all.
