Q: The mx anywhere 2 mouse wheel is a rocker that you can tilt left or right to switch desktops - does the mx anywhere 3 do the same?

Hi, the scroll wheel can be clicked but has no left/right movement. I don't use it with 2 machines but the info for it suggests that this function is now via Logitech Flow, with a Flow enabled mouse.

Q: Is it possible to pan by pressing/holding the wheel?

Yes - that is the default operation when pressing down (clicking) the wheel. So compatible with many simpler mice. I find this mouse brilliant for spreadsheets. I use the wheel for vertical scrolling (click by click or MagSpeed for more extensive movement when you have hundreds of lines of data) and the very neat and simple idea of click and hold either of the side buttons and the wheel then does horizontal scrolling - again with MagSpeed for flying across the columns. This is actually superior to the more expensive MX Master with its independent side wheel for horizontal scrolling as you don't get MagSpeed and all its available tuning on the side wheel, and I find the side wheel scroll much harder to use than simply holding in a side button and using the lovely main wheel. Plus the Anywhere is more compact than the Master which I personally prefer.

Q: Can this mouse scroll horizontally?

YES horizontal scrolling out the box ! (on windows at least) I chose this MX Anywhere 3 over the MX Master as I preferred the way they implemented the horizontal scrolling by simply holding in either of the two side buttons and then operating the main lovely Mag HyperScroll wheel to scroll horizontally. So much more control than using the side scroll wheel of the Master in my opinion. If you use big spreadsheets like me I can with just one flick MagScroll all the way from column A to column IV (the rightmost in Excel 2003) when the Mag wheel "Smart Shifts" into free spin. Okay you can't scroll vertically and horizontally at the same time - but then I never tried to do that with the Master and its two independent wheels.

Q: Can you pan with the middle button with mx anywhere 3?? is it the same as anywhere 2??thanks

Hi, the mx3 can scroll sideways if you first hold down either of the side buttons as you use the scroll wheel. I thought this would be a problem for me but works fine.
