It's the best kettle in the world!
Why am I being asked to rate how lightweight this thing is? I chose this kettle because it ISN'T lightweight!!! I bought this kettle because it has the MOST weight and is GOING TO LAST the longest. It's certifiably BIFL! I mostly use it on my stove at home and absolutely love it. It is so shiny and clean and makes hot water fast! There is no rusting inside and NO PLASTIC. This, in my opinion, is the very best kettle that anyone can buy anywhere. It will keep your water pure and untainted with any taste or chemical. I appreciate the high quality Fire Maple delivers in this lifetime-quality kettle. I tell my family and friends about it. It is so beautifully crafted that it becomes a conversation piece when I have visitors. A full stainless-steel anything is a rare and wonderful treasure to have. I am so pleased to have been able to even buy such a great quality kettle. I looked for a long time (weeks or months) to find this special kettle. It is stainless steel all around, it has a wide lid for easy cleaning. This is the kettle I've always wanted! I need to set a timer so that I don't forget I'm boiling water, since it does not squeal when the steam comes out. It's just as well! It's a simple design and will probably last forever. I'm sure it will outlive me! If you like to boil water, just get it. If you want a cheap thing that's a little lighter for camping, go for it, -- but for me?--- I prefer a heavy-duty thing that's not going to fail. I hate aluminum cookware because aluminum is linked to Alzheimer's! Think about it! Steel is 1000% better! Isn't the extra weight worth your health? I bought this for camping. I carry it in, and I'm happy with it. It is easier to boil water with a heavy-duty steel kettle with a proper lid and re-hydrate my instant freeze-dried foods in their pouches than carrying around a pot and bowls and all that stuff. I know that stuff is expensive, but you can go way cheaper if you pack instant hot cereal/even regular oats or instant rice+beans and use a container with a lid to let it re-hydrate in. The kettle is about all I need. No other kettle can match this one. I looked really hard! I think the closed design with the spout is the best because when I see the steam and hear it boiling, I know it's ready to cook with, sans bugs or ash or whatever from the environment, and I don't need to keep opening the lid to check if it's boiling yet. It's clear to see! Also, I noticed that if I boil a lot of water, the handle can get a little hot, but if it's only enough for a cup of tea, it stays cool enough that I can pick it up without any issue. If I take it out, I'll take a little cotton rag with me, in case I'll need it.

Great for camping!
This is very light but definitely not cheaply made and fits well especially in small spaces. Great quality and durability. The heat dissipation overall is very even and quick to heat up. Easy to use and store and functions as advertised. Great for camping or for emergencies.

Excellent kettle
I'm impressed with the Fire-Maple company. Shortly after purchasing my 1L Fire-Maple Antarctic tea ketle, the lid slipped into a tiny slot in my camper van and disappeared beyond reach. I contacted Fire-Maple and asked if they'd please send me another lid. Instead, they sent me a new replacement kettle with lid. Such kindness! This is the best camping tea kettle I've ever owned. It's well made--strong; sturdy; with details including a handle that can lock upright during use or lie flat for saving space; the handles hold the lid in place during use; the lid is easily removed when hot; & the spout is designed to pour fast or slow without dripping (it has a well-controlled slow pour into a V-60 coffee cone). I have arthritis, and apppreciate that it's lightweight and easy to grasp and use. It's also easy to towel dry the inside after use, and it stores compactly (but I hang mine on a hook). I'm a van dweller and use this kettle daily to heat water. It heats fast thus conserving fuel. And, it's well-designed to go from conventional cooktop to camp stove to firepit. I will be puchasing all of my camping cookware from Fire-Maple. They're quality products and good folks. P.S. a handy tip: a mason jar lid fits perfectly as a replacement lid for the kettle if needed :)

Excellent quality kettle for camping!
I bought this for camping because other reviewers said it was great, and it is! We used it to primitive and (very basic) campground camp for 3 weeks in the Rockies this summer and it was AWESOME. We used it endlessly for heating water for tea, coffee and making dehydrated meals. (Mountain House rocks.) It pours beautifully, which really matters. The handle doesn't get hot if you keep it above the pot. And when we got home, and it was all black with soot, I used Bar Keeper's Friend and restored it to its pristine shiny original self. Great value for money. It doesn't have a whistle, but I didn't want one. We're in the wilds of the Rockies, or in a campground. I'm not distracted. I'm sitting by the fire waiting for my kettle to boil. I don't need a whistle. That said, though, it had a distinctive and fairly loud sound when it was close to a boil... So that was nice, because you knew the water was ready without looking inside. The kettle is excellent quality, thick metal, hardy and good for rough camping with. (Obvs you're not going to use this if you're hiking in and carrying everything. We were car camping, essentially.)

Good looking little kettle.
Great little kettle. My only complaint would be the handle needs a detention so it will stay straight up while heating. It easily falls to one side or the other and gets very hot. I just use a napkin to pick it up by the handle.

great quality. perfect for 1 or 2 people.
Light weight. Sturdy build. I have been trying to get my camp kitchen more geared for the seasons. And in summer I need smaller amounts of hot water. This is a good size for me. And allows me to keep it in my camp kitchen tote. The only thing I wish it did have was a cap or something for spout. I have had bugs crawl in during the night. I will look for a rubber cap at the hardware store to solve this issue. Lovr the mesh bag that comes with it. I have been able to toss in my silverware and cup when I am done with my meals. Keeping the mesh bag hanging off my kitchen set up. I camp pretty seriously and comfortably. Often being out in the woods for 6+ days at a time. 42 days so far this year. I can attest to the quality of this kettle. Whether you are using it on a propane/white gas stove or hanging over a wood fire.

Worth it
Was hesitant because it's an obvious copy-cat brand. I mean, at least they used a real name unlike certain big companies who blatantly steal products... But surprisingly, it's a good product. Well made. Perfect size. I had considered getting the largest so I could make two cups of coffee but the 1 litre was perfect. Makes an XL aeropress with water to spare or two full-size ramen bowls. I used it with my wood stove and I'm frankly impressed. As impressed as you can be by a water kettle, that is. It's literally a pot that heats up water. If you're looking at other brands like GSI or even Barebones, this is just as good. I'm usually brand loyal but glad I ventured out a bit. You won't be disappointed... unless you're expecting magic.

So far so great
Very impressed with the design and quality of this kettle. It's smaller than my previous one but holds more water due to the smart design. It also doesn't have a seam on the inside so water doesn't get trapped and rust. I use it on my propane camp stove and indoor wood stove without issue. If you watch for it to boil and remove from heat promptly, the handle is still cool enough to touch without an oven mit.
