I tried 3 different cans:- (this one) schmincke- Krylon UV-Resist Gloss- Krylon UV-Resist MatteI found on my tests the schmincke spray to do the best job. Watercolours stay crisp and colourful and dont mix or change colours. I sprayed and left to dry before applying more coats and after allot of coats I found darks can start to show a bit of glossiness so make sure to test your technique on a test painting with the paints you’re using before doing your final piece like I did.I found that although the Krylon website said theirs was suitable for watercolour the krylon uv-resist clear coat (matte) completely destroyed watercolours by removing colour from the painting and giving the art a speckling / ‘digital noise’ sort of look.Krylon UV Gloss although slightly better still slightly reacted with the watercolour and made the paints soften because they mixed again. So don’t use krylon for watercolour.Trust schmincke and don’t look back.
