Kanji Look and Learn

It came ripped on the side and not just a little one it was like on the spine and went through the pages

This book is great for when you are first learning kanji, self-studying, and for reference. The pictures are very helpful. However, there is no practice. You need to also buy the workbook if you want to practice using the kanji in sentences, recognizing, etc., which is kind of unfortunate. Like, there is literally 0 practice/review questions in this book. Only the kanji, meanings, picture to help you remember and stroke order/space to practice writing them (by space, I mean like 10 boxes...).

I have not used this book yet, however the brief look up that I did, this book looks good for beginners. When I restart my Japanese class I'll come back to update this review.

College sucks, find a trade school!

This book is really laid out to how each kanji is written. Then it has each word the kanji is used in. For me the book is very helpful for learning my kanji. I also like the pictures they use to try to help you remember why the word is known to be that word. But really I like that each word is shown when the kanji is used. I think that is the most helpful. And it has in the back of the book the breakdown of it. So if you know it is a na kanji you can look under na and find it.

It's the reference book to the workbook. It gives you the meanings, the readings, and mnemonics, plus stroke order. The workbook is excellent in testing you what you have learned.

I've studied the kanji in this book while also studying the Genki I and II textbooks. It's a great guide and has good mnemonics.

Best book ever. I have always been struggling when it came of memorizing. This books is well structured and now I really enjoy learning kanji.
