It has a permanent filter that can be washed out, but then needs to dry out completely over night as it also works with static electricity. It has a prefilter either foam (washable) or better char coal, Filter K. I cleaned the internal filter today. The label states to hold the "OK" button to reset the indicator. I held it, and it is not resetting.
