Pics: bottom knife is the Astute.I own many knives, dozens of them are Spydercos.The good: This is an excellent value for the money and a great design. I specifically like that the knife is really designed for a full 3 inch blade in a slim profile for every day carry. Comparing this to a para military 2, its much thinner, much smaller, but has near the same cutting edge. It's very small for the blade size, light, and compact for what you get. You get get a full 3 inch blade for a tiny profile.The bad: I'd like some jimping on the back (notches on the back to enhance grip). This is especially needed because there is no choil. it does not have the fit and finish of a 200 dollar knife. 8cr13MoV steel is nothing exciting. I'd like a more aggressive taper at the tip outward. With no choil and no jimping and and near an extra 1/2 inch from the tip of the handle to the max profile closed there's no good reason not to.Reality: This is the best 3inch + knife for EDC in a casual environment I've had in a long time. I would buy a few at 100 dollars if they used a better steel, cleaned up the tolerances, and smoothed everything out. This isn't a knife I'd want to cut 200 boxes down with mainly because of the steel but also the grip. It's not a sharp pry bar. This knife is for opening a box, some mail, cutting a banana or apple, and maybe a the plastic shell off something. It makes the tradeoff of smaller, lighter, and less obtrusive for not being a hard use knife. I've been using this a couple months in rotation for every day carry and I don't see that changing anytime soon for when I to be capable without extra weight or bulk.

Absolutely love this knife. Not my most expensive knife but definitely my favorite for everyday use. Nice clip for everyday carry without being bulky or too small. Very sharp edge that has held up nicely.

The knife is small enough not to notice it will attached to inside of pocket but is a very sturdy knife, and very sharp. How long the blade will hold an edge only time will tell. Well worth the money!

If your looking for all the reliability of your old Tenacious, but you want to cut down the size. This Spyderco, "Astute" is the answer. Almost the same edge length with less handle bulk. Comfortable , and fast in the hand. All the quality you've come to expect in a Spyderco. The normies will love you for not busting out that brute of a blade (i.e. people friendly design).

Very nicely done product. Well made and just the right size. I have carried a delica for years but this feels a little better . Also bought one for my daughter.

Great little every day carry knife. Very ergonomic, feels great in the hand. Came shaving sharp out of the box.
