They should make this compulsory for coolant changes
This Really works I had a coolant lose, car overheated but managed to get home. I checked but found no leaks. I had no oil issue so thought it was a head gasket and the major expense that would have been to repair. My 11 year old Nissan Juke with 120K milage was not worth the repair cost. So I thought give this a try. OMG , 500miles later and the car is running smoothly. If your not having an oil related problem . Give this a go

You must drain and flush out modern antifreeze before adding Steel Seal.
My son's car was pressurising the radiator. A chemical test confirmed exhaust gas in coolant. First off you need to drain coolant system of all modern antifreeze. Flush a couple more times with clean water to ensure cleared. Then add Steel Seal and I let it run around circa 2000rpm (piece of wood on accelerator) for good 30 mins as per instructions. Then let it cool completely overnight. As temperatures were above freezing I left the Steal Seal in just with just water, no antifreeze , for a further 5-6 days and he drove car as normal. I then drained system and refilled with G12 antifreeze. That was a month ago, not had an issue since. You can't just add to header tank though, you MUST flush system of all modern antifreeze. After it's cured overnight (or longer) you can then drain and revert to G12 coolant. Once the Steel Seal has set its ok with organic antifeeze, just not compatible when its still liquid. Worked for me.

Waste of money - Do not buy !
This was a waste of money, did not work and i followed the instructions to the letter, to make sure, i checked the steal seal website and read the actual instructions, which advise taken out the spark plugs one by one to identify the culprit. Flushed the coolant 3 times before adding sealant and ran for 30 mins when temp reached 90 degrees. Left it overnight for a whole 24 hours and next day ran again for 30 mins but right at end started bubbling and overheating. Since then flushed it several times, which was a pain to get rid of all this sealant and even now with distilled water added it is still overheating. Gist is; if you have a head gasket issue, then there is no choice but to strip the engine and clean it and replace the gasket. This will now be my next plan, just wished i get my money back but this seller simply states follow the claim procedure on the bottle, and that is steal seal requires a mechanical reciept advising head gasket failure or a scrap certificate. This mean forking out more money to a mechanic just to get your money back for this cr*p bottle of snake oil and that means the gaurantee is a lie.

Don't think it completely worked
Think it may have slowed the leak, but lets face it there's no miracle cure for a blown gasket if it's too far gone. Can't say it worked completely, so can neither recommend or warn.

Exspensive, but worked out cheaper than stripping the engine
I believe this worked because we followed the instructions to the letter - emptying the coolant system of every last drop of water contaminated with antifreeze. We used this in a 1.4 MG ZR. It was losing water (about a pint every 6 weeks), but not into the oilways nor any visible leaks, nor was it letting by to the point its pressurising the coolant system. Suspected headgasket beginning to seperate (common on the K series) and was told to try this before tearing down the engine. Hasn't lost a drop for months now. How good this would work on a badly blown/cracked engine is anyones guess, and we only gave it a go as the motor is 20 years old and it wouldn't have been the end of the world if it destroyed the motor. But in this instance it saved me either a lot of time repairing, or money getting somone else to do it, and my son didn't lose the car for a few weeks whilst being repaired. In summary, a good product that worked for me. Would I use in a modern car with complex cooloing systems/turbos etc that are worth lots of money, probably not. But in something on its last legs, to get you home or out of a fix, then I would use this over other similar products.

Does what it says.
This stuff is top notch. Cured an oil cooler leaking into the coolant system, no more dramas, even 4000 miles plus from using.

Leak bottle

I flushed my system of old coolant prior to use, including my heater core and refilled with regular tap water along with the Steel Seal. I followed the instructions on the back of the bottle and the leak was fixed. I left over night, drained the next day, and refilled with coolant. I don’t drive the vehicle daily so I’m hoping the Steel Seal will last. It did work for me and I like that it won’t clog your radiator or cooling system.

Came highly recommended by a mechanic. Saved us an expensive fiddly hard to reach repair for a water leak. Hopefully does the trick. No complaints so far. Worth a try for the cost.
