Eccles cakes
A taste of home. Expensive and much much smaller than I remember. Very tasty though

Tasty snack
I liked the flaky crust, though it is kind of messy. Not an immediate gratification because it needs to be reheated in the oven and not microwaved. It is filled with currants and raisins and pretty tasty. A couple with tea with coffee will fill you up. The problem is you will want to warm all 4 pieces in the pack because you took the time to heat the oven, so you need other people to help eating them.

I know why the Brits love them!
Being a fan of British literature I have often read about Eccles cakes, especially in the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. To satisfy my curiosity I ordered these when Amazon ( strangely) suggested them to me. I can now easily see why the Brits love these rich, delicious pastry cakes. The cakes were well packaged & so fresh they could have been baked that day! Try them :)

CRAZY flaky good, People!
What a surprise!Looking for a tea cake, for afternoon and breakfast, but I had absolutely NO IDEA what I was doing! LOL!American good guess and little blessings, later? The filling is sweet but the currant destructs from the raisins (DO NOT FEAR THE RAISINS).This is NOT mincemeat -The butter it takes to form that flaky crust! WOW!How they pack them and they didn’t turn to dust?I - quite honestly - F’d up and used the microwave for 10 seconds and please, follow the directions for oven baking or use a toaster oven for warming through to capture that butter’s reaction with the crust/pastry and filling.I’ve never before had these or anything close.

Way Out of Date
The ones I received had been out of date for over two months BEFORE I ordered them. They were shipped fairly quickly, but they were already over two months beyond their ‘Best By’ dates. I consider this to be a highly unethical business practice and hope it was an ‘oversight’. Writing this review to warn others of this possibility.

Unique slice of Brit- heaven!
Geez Louise..... This was the first time I had ever had one of these little nuggets of heaven and I'm living for them. So dense and delicious and perfect with a strong cup of tea for french press. One is all you can eat as they are rich, but thats a good thing. Ef it, I'm going to reorder now so I don't run out. You get 3 packs of 4 in each order. Great value and YUM.

Great with a cup of Lapsang Souchong.
As a Yank I was unfamiliar with Eccles cakes until I heard about them through a favorite Britcom of mine. I decided to try them with my favorite blend of hot tea and was immediately hooked. I love these things. They are great when waking up in the AM or when winding down in the evening with a nice cuppa. Simply awesome.
