Always come back to what works.
I carried a similar style around for years and years. Then started branching out to different knife style, different EDC styles trying to see what I thought would work best. This is still inbeatable. The size, the lightweight design. And more simply the tools this one offers are perfect. Everyone has a practical everyday use and hold up very very well. It’s easy to open, it’s easy to carry and it’s extremely durable. Pretty everything you could ask for.

Best pocket tool for everyday carry
As soon as I picked up this particular knife I was sure. Thin, light, short, but not too short to end up with too short knives, or tools. I’ve only had this particular knife for a few months, but so far I’ve been completely satisfied with the choice of tools. Sure there are more tools that I could use, this is not my first Swiss Army knife, I have quite a few, including one of the larger ones with lots of tools. Still, when you boil it down, certain tools get used more than others. Corkscrews and wood saws are rarely used everyday for me at least. Scissors too, though often used, are just too small for a sturdy implementation. Far better to have a good sharp knife, or two really, in this case a smaller one that works for higher leverage uses, box cutting, or any use that benefits a smaller blade to prevent inadvertent cuts. The longer knife shines for easy cutting of larger items, and doubles for a food knife. As a comparison, I have a much smaller multi-tool. It is smaller that this knife by half, and it has more tools, but it fails In the sturdy catagory, the single knife is just too small, with a tiny spine, and a one side taper that makes sharpening difficult. That life sits in my knife drawer, waiting with all the others to find it’s use. The color, black, is better for discrete pocket use. I like the red color, but for everyday pocket use, black is better. Could there be more tools that would fit in this exactly right pocket size? Sure, the pressurized pen comes to mind. It has the toothpick and the tweezers that find quite a bit of daily use. Another would be the magnifier, but not if the width is larger. With the Swiss sharpener tool used to give these blades a finish at the factory, the knives remain almos razor sharp, yet much sturdier. Also, if it wouldn’t change the knife dimensions, a locking blade would be welcomed. Yet strangely I don’t miss the lock as much as I thought I would, pretty every use I’ve tasked these knife blades for, the lock wouldn’t have mattered. If you need a larger knife, you would probably utilize a knife belt holster.Nothing wrong with this, but it doesn’t fit within the pocket cary Carry At this point, this knife is the currently designated “Everyday Pocket Carry”.

Good One
OK, I admit it. I ordered this SAK Tinker with black scales on a whim...as if I needed another knife. Arrived same day I ordered. Let me preface this review with the following: I started with a Swisstool plus. Great Victorinox quality. Then I ordered the Victorinox Alox Hunter. Another great SAK. Then I got the Swiss EVO with the wood scales, but my 19 year old granddaughter confiscated it for herself ( with my blessing, of course). Replaced it with the Swiss Champ. That is a phenomenal tool. Then I got the SAK Fieldmaster, which I felt was THE perfect EDC SAK. But, being a gadget junkie myself, I saw a great price for this Tinker so my inner demons got the best of me and I hit the place order button... So instead of starting with a smaller SAK, and going larger, I started out with the largest of tools in the Swisstool, and each SAK got progressively smaller as I went along. How do I like this Tinker? Well, it is as well made as all my other Victorinox knifes and tools. But I find I am missing having the scissors and saw blade of the Fieldmaster. I miss the magnifying glass and the cork screw of the Swisschamp with the Fieldmaster. The Tinker has just the basics, a few blades, a bottle opener, a can opener, and a few screw drivers...BUT in reality, I really only used the long and short blade, the Phillips head and the bottle opener on any of my other SAKs and rarely used any other attachment. So... as of now, I am going to be carrying the Tinker every day, and over time will probably not miss the other tools of the Fieldmaster or Swisschamp...as I never really used them anyway. I doubt I will go any smaller than the Tinker as far as SAKs go. Still feel 'naked' without the other tools as in the Fieldmaster or Champ, but will give this Tinker a fair chance. As to quality, well, I never EVER had a single quality issue with any Victorinox product, and I expect this to be equally as good over time. Oh, and by the way, if you missed it, there is a hole to put a straight pin in the scales, just under the phillipshead screw driver on both the Tinker as well as the Fieldmaster.

Must buy
I got this as a gift is is super useful 12 different things. It has a knife, small knife screwdriver bottle opener can opener super good for when you’re at work like if you’re in hands-on job I wouldn’t say outdoorsy but like if you let’s say work like a wood shopping place like place where you use your hands for your work could be very good. Could work for camping, but I wouldn’t say the best very good. I think every man should happen. Good value for money super small. It’s effective good gift small size and I love the design for knives one of my favorite sleek nice must buy.

Good but quality control is lacking
My pops always carried one so I wanted to get one as well, it’s great and would’ve been five stars but it came with some deep scratches.

Just like the old one, except black
Just like the one they took away from me at the Tampa airport; I forgot I had it in my pocket. I love this knife. Sharp (and easy to keep that way), and the assortment of tools handles almost any situation. It leaves my pocket two or three times a day. I've carried this model for going on 50 years and it has served me well.
