Clever power back box screwthread repair clip.
These are very clever fixing clips which save a ton of difficulty work (digging a light or socket back box out) by slip on thread replacement points. The clips incorporating the new thread are very well made , are strong and effective. You do as was suggested by another reviewer need to make a small clearance (1mm) in the wall at the side of the back box to allow the clip to go fully in but I found that task very easy. I fitted the repair clips to a metal back box and found they fitted easily and effected a perfect repair. Highly recommended!

Excellent kit but needs a bit of persuading.
These are very good but, for me, fitting was a bit less than straightforward. I needed to clear plaster from the outside of the socket box - I used a kitchen knife. Then I had to bend the old fitting lugs flat with the box - I used a hammer and an old screwdriver to do this. I used the hammer and screwdriver to install the clips - they are a tight fit and can't be pushed on by hand. Finally, I had to widen the box to get the screws to line up - more hammering. But after all that the fit is good and the socket screws are done up tight.

These clips work!
The back box I wanted to repair was quite deep in the wall, I found it almost impossible to get the clip on the side of the box. After quite some time I succeeded. The spring that holds the clip in place is very strong, so it's not going to fall off. If the box was at the surface, it would have been a lot easier. You need a gap at the side of the box to be able to clip it on and any protruding bits of metal on the side of the box need to be removed. Quite any expensive item, but unique and far quicker than having to replace the back box. I would recommend these.

Quick and effective
Didn't have high hopes for this but it worked flawlessly. Just scrape away 1mm of plaster from the outside of the box with a Stanley knife and push this on. Got a secure fixing straight away. Took two minutes. More firm than the initial thing I did of extending the screw and going into the back of the box.

Brilliant bit of kit!
Over the last 40 years I have had my struggles with metal back-boxes. All of the houses have been over 100 years old and the electrical installations have not been great. All of the houses were stone and plaster thicknesses can vary widely, as can the fixings for the back box to the wall itself. The wall are mostly irregular and rarely flat, which leads to the back-boxes being at odd angles. When switches or power sockets are installed on the back-boxes it is quite easy to strip the threads in the back-box. This makes repairs difficult; firstly to remove the switch and secondly to install a new one. These clips use the principal of captive nuts found in many pieces of equipment and vehicles. The threaded section is sturdy and mounted in a clip that is installed over the side-wall of the back-box itself. Removing the threaded section in the back box is fiddly but if the back-box is well supported it could be hammered or filed flat, or in my case I used drill to remove metal then a Dremel tool to make the back-box wall flat for clips. This is way better than having to remove the box and inevitably hacking out plaster, or removing a section of plaster board with the prospect of a lot of repair and decoration - why hasn't someone thought of this before?!

Back Box repair Kit Expensive
A 25mm Back box costs 50p. Cheaper to replace the box but these clips are handy however £5 for 2 clips are extortionate

Quick and simple repair
We had several new sockets fitted and found that one of the back boxes was broken. This was a simple quick and easy repair and the socket is now back on on the wall and is secure. Great to have in a tool box just in case.
