I was looking for a quality magnet construction set that would offer my 6 year-old grandson the most opportunities for creative play while sustaining his interest for several years. I read lots of reviews for various products on Amazon. This goobi set fit the bill! The only downside is that it is very expensive and one set simply does not have enough pieces for making some of the designs that are pictured. The instructions are minimal---they provide a starting point, which is enough for my grandson. He was given the 300 piece set for Christmas and now I am giving him the same set again for his birthday in order to have more pieces to make more designs. Plus, having more pieces, enables more hands to be at work! This set is for adults as well as children. It is not for the very young child who might put the connecting balls (that are similar to marbles) in the mouth. The pieces are well constructed and will last a lifetime I suspect. My grandson will be very excited to have more pieces to complete larger designs!

Wonderful building toy to encourage creativity and problem-solving. The pieces lock securely and are very addicting. I have played with them more than my kids! I'm glad we got all three of them the 300 piece sets, you will run out of pieces very quickly if you try to make any kind of complex design. With 900 total pieces we are having a blast and rarely run out of pieces. I do wish the "90 degree" plastic clips were a little more precise, most of them do not hold the "stick" pieces at exactly 90 degrees which can result in shaky structures. But other than that these are perfect. Worth the high pricetag and seem like they will last forever.

The Goobi construction set is quality and a great activity for all ages! I do wish they weren't quite so expensive but I guess I don't mind paying for something that my future grandkids will probably end up playing with because the quality is that good.I bought these magnets because I was looking for something that I would enjoy doing with my 5 and 7 year old boys. I don't like to play with their toys but I love to play board games and build with them. These magnets keep us entertained for quite a while and I'm making fun memories with my boys. Who doesn't have fun playing with magnets? They can use their imagination or build from the idea booklet. I do wish the booklet had more ideas. I also wish the booklet had step by step directions to help my 5 year old build more easily.The storage case is a very convenient way to keep the magnets organized. That being said, the magnets have to be put away neatly so they fit but we don't mind because we have fun even when we are putting the Goobi's away.

I bought these for my 9 yr old Grandson.He enjoys making a variety of models!It allows him to use his creativity.Even adult visitors see his creations & want to make their own.Good for a wide range of children.

What grandson wanted

I really wanted to like these. My favorite part was the carry case. My 5&6 year old wanted to like these. They loved the colors. We currently use geomags but they are so expensive and the colors are not as vibrant as these. We thought we would give these a try. The goobi come with tri connectors which help stabilize the shape, however if you aren't using the tri connectors the rods roll all over the sphere so the shapes just aren't stable and crush easily. The rods also seem flimsy in comparison to the geomags. After the first hour of my kids playing with them they told me the didn't like them as much as the geomags, everything they tried to make fell apart and the tri connectors are hard to use for them. Sent it back. If we started with these maybe we would have liked them more, but for us it was a no go. Spend the extra couple dollars for geomags, the difference in quality is like night a day.

"Santa" brought this gift to both kids so they have to share it. They do a great job constructing different shapes together and on their own. It truly encourages engineering thinking since if they haven't balance their structure well they will fall over or collapse inward. This is a great gift to support your budding engineer. The colors are bright, the magnets are strong, and the connector pieces add strength to the shapes they build which allows them to build taller or wider than they could without the supports. We've had older kids come visit and they enjoyed creating with it, and I have too!
