seems fun, and girls were into playing it and didn't realize it was making them do math, so that is a bonus. kind of made up our own rules to make it playable by both kids ages 5 and 9.

I haven't had the chance to play PLYT with my students (summertime) but I had a lot of fun playing with 15 and 12 yr olds. Same game but different requirements based on ability

Absolutely great math game for all level of learners

My classroom received a copy of this game to try out a few months ago. This game is great. I have students who are all on different levels of learning. This game adapts to all levels of learners since you can choose how many of the red die you use. It challenges my "higher students" and helps my "lower students" become more fluent in multiplication facts. From four different students: "A fun game with customizable rules." "It was a fun way to review multiplication. I loved the challenge it gave me." "I like how when you roll the dice, you have to solve it really quick." "The game was fun, creative, and magnificent. I really enjoyed playing it"

Finally, a Math Game that Works

I was so pleasantly surprised that my daughter enjoys playing this game. It's one of the only math activities that she plays joyously. We started out simple, basic multiplication, and then she said to me "can we make 12 the master die since I really need to work on my 12x tables". Amazing to see how she realized it from the previous games and then really wanted to get better. Great option that beats flashcards and worksheets but it does require more adult effort to help and encourage.

Very fun for all ages

Very fun for all ages, it allows people to really brush up on their math skills! My family and I had a blast playing the game. Although very straightforwards in the rules, it's extremely entertaining to watch your family members trying to do some of the math problems proposed to them.

We decided to use different rules.

It is a good game to improve maths abilities but we changed the game rules: we decided to reward challenges more and in our view, the 12 numbers on the black dice leave sufficient chances to younger players so there is no need to introduce the risk of moving down an entire mountain level. For anyone interested, these are our rules: At every turn, after rolling the black dice, the player may immediately advance a number of steps equal to his points. Unless the player ends on a PLYT station, he will subseuently throw the number of red dice of his choice and decide whether to make an addition or a multiplication, the latter being rewarded twice the number of steps he would earn by making an addition. A wrong answer or an answer given too late is punished with a move back of a number of steps equal to the number of dice being rolled (which is also the number of steps which would be earned by succeeding an addition). Each time one comes to rest on a PLYT station, the player takes a card. Blue: move on to the next PLYT station. Yellow: stay where you are. Red: move back to the former PLYT station. Green: roll the black dice and move back accordingly. Interrogation marks on the card mean that this stage is to be followed by a calculation with the red dice and its consequences. Further rules: Two climbers resting on the same spot may decide to build a team and move on together for a while (the younger one just playing the black dice). The top of the mountain being very steep and climbers moving more slowly, the points on the black dice do not count after step 96. Enjoy!!

Easy to play, though a fun challenge for all.

After reading the reviews we brought this to help our children—6 and 5—with their maths. Not only did it help them, though it also helped us—40 and 39! What is so good, is that it is so easy to play and that you can move the game away from the board to play a quick game if your filling ten minutes. While our 5 year old worked on identifying her numbers and then adding up to ten, our 6 year old worked on her 2 and 10x tables and we did long multiplication and division.

Great game - fun for all of us!

We’ve been playing this non-stop since we bought it! It’s good that we can all play together even though we have different ages and skill levels. Can definitely see how it will improve maths!

Surprisingly popular

I can't believe how popular this game is turning out to be with the family (Mum, Dad, and children aged 10, 8 and 6). We've only had it a couple of days, but it's already been played 5 times and been won by someone different each time. The children are asking to challenge themselves so they can move extra squares. So this has meant that the younger one has voluntarily moved from number bonds to 20 to the 2 times table. Her older brothers who have struggled to learn tables are choosing to challenge themselves on any times table rather than just the one school says they should be learning at the moment. I did not expect this, thought I'd have to bribe them all to play it. I had expected one of the children to be panicked by the 30 second time limit, but he has been fine with it (though he did admit he is screaming inside a bit). It's been good for them to see me challenge myself and then get it right/wrong, I think that has been a big part of them pushing themselves. It's great that the best at maths in the house does not have an advantage. The website was very helpful for ideas for how to set a players standard. I had thought the game a little pricy, however, if they are asking to play it then it's worth every penny.

This is a fantastic family game

This is a fantastic family game. I spoke to the "inventor" by chance and she persuaded me that it might be good for families. My husband and I consider ourselves smart and we tried it with 4 of the 6 dice. It was tough and really enjoyable for a couple as a result. I can see how children can play with 2 or 3 dice in the same game alongside their parents playing a harder option with more dice.
