In Standard Notation and TAB: 9781461139850: Marcó, Javier: Books Review: Fantastic -- my favorite ukulele book. - My experience: I've been playing around with a guitar for about nine months, and picked up my first ukulele about a month ago. I taught myself a handful of songs on the guitar (single note -- never learned any chords). I've only been playing the ukulele for about a month, but this is my favorite book by far. It's challenging, but there is a very good range of difficulty, so I was able to play one song pretty much right away (In the Hall of the Mountain King), and gained the confidence to move on. After that first song, "Ode to Joy" is the next easiest, and it sounds really beautiful in this arrangement -- much better than the single-note version in one of my other books and that I learned to play on guitar. It's not a big thick book, but it'll last me a long time to master all the songs in it. Well worth the money. Review: Good beginner music to practice tablature! - I’m not really a beginner but I’m also not the next level up. I am mostly self taught. These are not the complete work of the various composer however they are portions of them. They are good beginner practice pieces and if used with a metronome will help you learn better timing skills, tablature and are cool because they are classical music.

Nice well written tunes.
I am having fun with this. It progresses from easy to harder. The songs sound nice.

Great classical uke book
I purchased the Kindle edition of this book to read on my iPad using the Kindle app. It works excellently on the iPad but, as another customer mentioned, the print is too small to read on the Kindle and, therefore, should not be marketed as a Kindle book. As far as the content of the book is concerned, it has exceeded my expectations. I am fairly new to playing the ukulele and do not read ukulele music especially well other than in first position. The tablature is excellent, and the music even tells you what finger to play the notes with. At one time I would not have believed that classical music would sound good on a ukulele, but I was definitely proven wrong after viewing the late great John King playing a Bach Prelude on YouTube. Easy Classical Ukulele Solos is a great place to start expanding your horizons if you're getting bored with basic strum patterns and would like to start playing slightly more challenging music. I should mention that I play a number of other instruments and read music so what I consider to be easy may not be easy for others. (My niece pointed this out to me in the past.) But, in my opinion, Javier Marco has done a great job simplifying the arrangement of some beautiful classical works.

Not really for a begginer, more intermediate. But still good.
This book is smaller than other music books (about 90% of the size, but fits in my uke case!) It is a print on demand book, so the paper isn't as nice either, (does this matter? not really.) It has some nice songs, all recognizable, in tab and musical notation. Not many pages, but worth the price. 5-15-2012 re-reviewed the book There is a HUGE mistake in this book, it was obviously transcribed from some other format as the G string is NEVER used in the TAB. I don't know if this was intentional or not (as the 2 different ways to tune that string), but it makes for some very awkward finger positions. Removed a star for that reason.

Classic Classicals
I have taken up the ukulele about a month ago, and found this to be pretty easy to play. I do have experience on classical guitar and other instruments, so if you are just strumming chords, the book might be more difficult for you. Still all very attainable, if you're willing to put in a bit of work. The pieces chosen are very widely known chestnuts of classical music, and as another reviewer wrote, it does not cover the entirety of the piece. It does however, present familiar pieces in a very well-transcribed manner, which is all I would expect from an Easy Classical Solos book. I was impressed by the arrangements, they sound much richer than one would imagine for an "Easy" title. It makes me sound better than I really am, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the book. And, my wife enjoys hearing me play the pieces in the book. Highly recommended.

Good for Beginners
I have enjoyed using this book. The tablerature is very simple and easy to play. The tunes are all easily found online if you are unfamiliar with the tune. I would recommend this book to ukulele players who are just starting to learn to do finger picking. All songs are in tabs and standard notation. This book may be boring to intermediate or advanced pickers, but the tunes could provide a framework to create new variations.

A good book to have
A good book to have as I just started learning to play ukulele. Being able to follow the tabs to play melodies from excerpts of some familiar classical music is encouraging. I like the fact that the tabs also include chords, although some of them can be challenging to a beginner. E.g. I am still trying to play 2-0-1-5 (in The Blue Danube) to make it come out clean, but that's also the reason of my 5-star rating as I believe I will get a lot more out of this book besides the melodies. It is true the chords do not come with names, but they can be easily looked up online. I use this site [...]

An interesting book. Just what I needed to learn another type of music to play, but dose not explain high g or low g string, I guess you have to learn that yourself.

This is definitely NOT for beginner musicians but it can be used by beginner ukulele players who are not new to music. Some pieces are very easy to start from. You have to be able to read music to use this book. Though the tabs are there, you can't do much with just the tabs. You need to know how to read the rhythm and the notes anyways.

This book is well written with both notation and tab. The arrangements are all quite good but they are only excerpts form the pieces therefore are only short. 7.5/10
