Does the job it's designed to do
Using this at the end of our pier. Had to purchase a rod to attach the metal assembly. You need to match the threads of the rod you purchase to the assembly so take it with you to the hardware store. We also purchased a long copper rod to ground everything into to silt under water. Don't want a lightning strike to catch the pier on fire! Have had some pretty strong storms and the swivel rod is holding up. That small swivel rod at the base of the assembly is probably the weak link if there is one.

well made
product seems well made, with easy to follow mounting instructions. The swivel portion fits on a 3/4" male threaded galvanized pipe. I've had it for almost 6 months. The nylon sock has faded a little, but that's not surprising given that it's mounted in my backyard, which is almost a mile above sea level in CO. Since it's been mounted, it's been tested by 50+ mph winds without any issues at all. About 3-4 mph of wind is needed to swivel the sock around. I'd buy it again.

The windsock is not installed yet but I think we will get many years of use out of it. It is made very well.

Highly Recommended
This has been in use for over a month and is working very well - only once did it get "stuck" on itself but corrected as soon as the wind got a little stronger. It provides a good sense of the wind speed and is very good at indicating the wind direction. It was easy to install and the longer I use it the more I like it since I get better at gauging wind strength by how it looks. Highly recommend!

Has a weak link
I liked the materials it was constructed of , but the retainer (press nut) was weak and before I could mount the sock it popped off. I replaced the nut and peened it so that it would stay on. Needs a better way to secure hoop to the axle than just a cheap press nut especially fly in the wind 40’ off the ground.

Easy assembly, and decent quality!
Made in the USA airport windsock ... like that A LOT! Easy assembly too. Recommend this bracket assembly for the pipe mast: Eagle EZ 70W Vent Pipe Mount Antenna Mast Heavy Duty Steel Galvanized Pair 5.5" However, that bracket is made in china.

Poor design. Not worth it.
Not well thought out. Poor design. Okay if it were $10. Wind sick hits the top cap with makes it turn less easy and at the bottom, no matter how many zip ties... it bunches up again the cap it’s supposed to rotate around. I missed my return date so it will take up room in the garage until I toss it. I should have gotten a bigger one with a real cage that swivels in a post.

Windsock turns boat dock into instant weather station
Impressed with durable material windsock made of, added frame provided pre- machined to fit on end of 3/4" diameter threaded plumbers pole that can be mounted to a boat dock pole with plumbers pipe clamps and one inch wood screws, seems obvious but make sure you pay attention to step number two and place frame facing inward towards open end. See photo of my dock
