Pretty good
After scraping the paint off I had big sparks that worked beautifully. It already getting thin only after a few times but still a good item. Die hard campers might not be too happy with it but a few things around the house its good for

Essential for your Boy Scout or your survival pack
My grandson just became a Cub Scout, so I decided to begin gathering everything he was going to need to go camping. This flint and steel combo was high on that list. I showed him how to use it once and within 20 minutes he had started his first campfire. I was thrilled. His Grandmother wasn't too happy with the hole burned in living room rug. (Just kidding)

smaller than I thought it was going to be. It will be tough to start a first with these and it won't last long. But if it is all you have and you need aq fire and know what you are doing it will get the job done in a pinch

For $2.50 this is the cheapest firestarter you can get. I would recommend getting rid of the striker it comes with and instead use your knife to strike the flint. The striker it comes with barely produces any sparks, but once I tried using the back of my knife,I could easily light a cotton ball with 2 strikes. Totally recommend this 100%

Most others that look like these have a flint embedded in a magnesium rod
Most others that look like these have a flint embedded in a magnesium rod. Be warned that these are flint only with no magnesium. I was surprised, in a bad way, when they arrived.

AMAZING PRODUCT
Very simple easy to use and cheap, also works very well! very easy to start a fire with. Really useful to have as a back up lighter if your lighter or matches ever run out. Getting this product wet is no problem! just dry off the flint and steel with your shirt and it's good to go!
