I recently used the Rust-Oleum 2067830 Stops Rust Automotive Primer in Flat Red as a substitute for red oxide primer, since the red oxide primer was out of stock. This product worked great and met all my expectations. The primer goes on smoothly and provides excellent coverage, creating a solid base for further paint applications. It dries quickly and adheres well to the surface, ensuring a durable and long-lasting finish. The primer worked well. 2/6 cans I bought sprayed dark charcoal instead of gray. The paint blotches went away after using the other 2 good cans. Peeling would occur if you do it in hot weather, since the hot sun will burn the particles before they touch the bumper. I would purchase again, but I had better quality control with Rust-o-leum cans from Walmart and Ace Hardware. The cans arrived with the arrows pointing down, which actually didn't affect anything. I'm a huge fan of Rust-o-leum. Most of the time they are 100% perfect in quality control. I would buy from Walmart.

Worked as intended. Covers the rust, protects from rusting more. Used on my van roof, and it's good value.

In October 2023, I used Rust-Oleum auto primer and automotive enamel spray paint to refinish my shower frame and all the bathroom hardware, changing it from stainless steel to black. I originally planned for this to be a temporary solution, but nearly 2.5 years later it has held up so well that it may as well be permanent. Despite showering 1–2 times a day, there has been no chipping or peeling at all. I’m very impressed with the durability and would highly recommend this product.
