Poor build quality
Over the past 20 years I’ve owned four Epson fine art printers. The R2880, 3800, 3880, and the P800. I was looking forward to some of the new features of the P700 such as the paper being centered when loaded, the black inks not having to be switched when going from glossy to matter, and an IOS app that allowed printing from an iPad. The P800 has wifi enabled printing from a different IOS app, but it isn’t as capable as the new one. I no longer had the need to print 17 inch prints so the 13 inch P700 would be fine. The first thing I noticed was that the build quality, that is the fit and finish of the plastic was not the same as the others I owned. All the things that could be opened or pulled out appeared flimsy. The initial setup was similar to the P800 so no surprises. The first problem came with loading photo paper. Once it fed into the printer and the printing started, there was a loud clacking, grinding noise and the printer stopped. I cleared the paper and then tried again with the same result. On the third try it worked. Over the course of the next hour I was able to make 3 prints out of 6 tries.I went back to the reviews of this printer on YouTube and there was no mention of this until I looked at some of the replies to those vids. The issue I was having was not unique. One person suggested looking at the forums on dpreview.com and that’s where I found that his was a frequent problem.Using Amazon’s return process I repacked and returned the printer. It was easy and the refund showed up quickly.I’m disappointed in Epson. I will continue to use the P800 but at some point, maybe when this ink set needs replacing, I will either go to Canon or utilize the print services of a local camera shop.

Bold beautiful color
I had a local printer doing my prints. And he’ll still have to do the large ones. But I am delighted with the quality of prints I’m getting out of this. I’m new to the whole photography art world, so figuring out the settings to a little trial & error for me. But I’m learning & getting gorgeous prints from this printer. And my only regret is that I didn’t go ahead and buy the bigger printer. When I first started using this printer it left a smudge on the white boarder of the prints. It stopped doing it after a few prints without me having to do anything. But it was disappointing at first. The ink almost immediately says it is very low. I have a whole new set ready to go. But the cartridges keep going…. *update - it will eventually tell you that you have to replace an individual ink to proceed, so that's when you need to change it.I use Moab Entrada Rag Bright 300 cotton paper.I print directly from photoshop. I've had zero problems with crashing & needing to restart like another review said. But I also own a nicer Epson flatbed scanner. I have to use non-Epson scanning softwear because it would crash all the time & I'd have to restart it. So maybe Epson just has crappy softwear? The only thing I don't love about this printer is that it is bad at doing multiple pages. It doesn't bend the paper while it is going through the printer, which is great! I was able to print the backs of some postcards for marketing material for me. But I had to individually initiate each print....

Working dimensions matter, not the printer size.
This printer produces beautiful prints. Simplicity beautiful! The printer software was confusing to set up and W ended up having to locate a printer usb cord to get it to connect to my computer. After initial setup I was able to print wirelessly. So that’s good. The other issue I’m having is the genuine Epson ink cartridges are not available even on the Epson website. They say use only genuine Epson ink, then they fail to make it available. If you want to print on thicker paper, it better be large. Smaller paper sizes aren’t compatible with the front paper loader. Also ensure you have plenty of space behind the printer because although you load the poster board from the front it travels out the back before printing and coming out the front. I n other words the printer dimensions are beside the point, the working dimensions are what matters.

Great 13 inch printer
I purchased this printer as a replacement for an Epson photo R2400. The R2400 had done a good job and it was time for a replacement. Epson did a great job upgrading their 13 inch Photo printer. I am happy with the printer. I have a few problems with the whole process and want to give some insight to potential P700 customers. I had a major problem getting things setup. I am not sure where the problem lies either Microsoft or Epson. The driver installation is wierd to say the least. Since I was replacing an R2400, I made the mistake of unpluging one and plugging in the new printer - WRONG!. You gotta read the instructions. I think there could be better communication between Microsoft and Epson to make life better for Epson customers. Another complaint I have with Epson has to do with the included INK. There are ten ink cartridges. The included cartridges are just shy of empty. I was able to print two 8x10 prints before "replace Ink cartridge" message. These cartridges cost $41 each. So when you see the price of the printer at $800, Stop and think. The price of this printer is $1200. Epson could very easily put some more ink in those included cartridges. Just Be Aware. Epson makes good stuff. A bit more clarity would be appreciated. Another problem with the ink. Amazon cannot find "Epson P700 ink". I get all sorts of non Epson ink as well as random Epson ink. You do not see all Epson P700 Ink which one would expect. At any rate, If you purchase the P700 and get things setup and running, I think you will be pleased. tks
