Q: Has anyone changed the tubes on 5-watt monoprice amp; If so, what kind and what level of difficulty?

Installation was easy. Unplug amp,unscrew the back cover,slip off the retaining clip,swap tubes being sure to line up the pins/holes correctly and put your cover back on and that's it.

Q: I've got a fender mustang amp. should i switch to this one? everyone says tube amp is way to go but honestly i can't hear it in demo videos

Hard question. The mustang line of amps by fender has a lot of FX crammed into them. Which is great because it gives you a chance to hear what all the different FX sound like. This mono price amp has no FX Built into it, so you would need to have some stomp boxes. I bought the mono price AMP and switched out the China 12AX7 tube for a TUNG-SOL 12AX7 and it quickly became my favorite practice AMP. Really the best thing about this mono price amp is the fact that it does not have a bunch of FX crammed into it. You will quickly learn how to use the knobs on your guitar itself to get different tone out of the amp.

Q: Would I be able to select 1 watt output, connect speaker out to another amplifier, and essentially use this as a preamp to say a Fender Champion?

Not a good idea really. The Champion expects a guitar pickup or the line output of a pedal plugged into it, not a hot signal like even the 1W speaker output. So you'd really need to turn the Champion down. The next problem is that the Champion's inputs are high impedance (say, 100,000 Ohms) but the Stage Right expects about 4 ohms impedance. For many kinds of outputs, "higher is fine." But I understand that for certain kinds of tube amps, it's bad to run them into high impedance.

Q: Attn. manufacturer. why no email response from monoprice for 2 weeks about my new amp cutting in and out. i tried new cables. why no support on amp?

I gave this amp to my son a year and a half ago and he loves it. No problems. Send your amp back if you can.
