Barlus Cam for aquarium
I spent a long time researching underwater cameras before deciding on the Barlus Pond Camera, and I’m so glad I did. It’s sturdy, reliable, and does exactly what I hoped for: letting me reconnect with nature by watching the aquatic life in my 70-gallon aquarium, where the camera is mounted inside the tank about 3 feet from the glass. Three years ago, I fell on the ice and severely injured my back, causing nerve damage that made it difficult to enjoy the outdoor activities I used to love, like hiking, skiing, and canoeing. Losing that connection to nature was a hard adjustment, and it started to take a toll on my mental health. After a surgery helped with some of the pain but left new challenges, I began searching for ways to bring the peace of nature into my home—and that’s when I found this camera. The Barlus Pond Camera is designed for aquaculture, ponds, and pools, but it’s been a perfect fit for my aquarium setup. The camera uses fixed focus, so objects up close can appear blurry, but everything farther away looks crisp and detailed. For me, that works beautifully since it captures the wide, open space of my tank and the natural behaviors of my fish. I did struggle with the initial setup, especially getting the camera connected to my router, but when I contacted Barlus technical support, they were incredibly helpful. They guided me through the process step by step, and once it was connected, everything worked seamlessly. Now I can stream live footage to my phone, tablet, and laptop with no lag, and I’m even working on projecting it onto a larger screen in the future. What I love most is how much this camera has changed my daily life. On tough days, when anxiety or pain creeps in, taking just five minutes to watch my tank through the live feed is calming and grounding. It’s given me a way to reconnect with nature that I never thought possible. If you’re looking for a high-quality underwater camera that’s durable, designed for continuous submersion, and performs beautifully in larger setups, I’d highly recommend the Barlus Pond Camera. It’s brought so much joy back into my life, and I’m grateful to have found it.

IMPOSSIBLE TO SET UP
DO NOT BUY This thing is impossible to set up. Unless you're a computer IT genius. The app to download the flash drive the videos are super unhelpful. We spent two days working on this. And I am not a complete idiot when it comes to tech or setting things up. I have no idea why they don't make it simpler. The other reviews stating this are so true

Great picture and a solid underwater camera.
First of all, this is a quality camera with good construction and a great picture. There is not a lot in the box, but the box is sturdy and you can use it as a carrying case to move and store the camera. It comes with a solid camera and 5 meters of cord which is around 15 feet. There is some discrepancy on the listing it says 1440P in the listing and 4 MP, but in the description it says 1080p and 5MP. if I had to guess its 5MP and 1080P, but regardless the picture is flawless. I did not test it underwater, but inside my house it was as good as or better than any of my indoor or outdoor cameras. It is a little expensive, but its rated IP68, so it should be good from 1 to 5 meters or so. The construction is top notch and the camera has a heavy feel to it. It also comes with sturdy mounting screws. The casing is stainless steel and is fog free and durable. I got this to put in my pool as sort of a cool thing to show people, but this can be used in a variety of means, such as Koi ponds or general observation. The USB drive with the manuals on it are fantastic. It also had videos on how to set it up. My only issue is that I guess because its a Chinese product there is no sound on the video, so you really have to pay attention. I spent some time rewinding it to get it setup up. I wont say setup is really easy, but if you have some LAN and computer knowledge its not difficult. Make sure during setup you click allow network otherwise it wont show you the IP address, also make sure they are plugged into the same network. I have a few networks setup and forgot that. There are several ways to set this up and it includes POE, which if you have a switch that utilizes POE then you don't need the power cord. I do not, but I might get one for this. POE is essentially Power over Ethernet, which turns your Ethernet cord into a power cord as well. Overall this was semi-easy to setup for someone knowledgeable, but I could see this being hard for a computer novice. they do have support. The picture quality was fantastic and its a great camera for your underwater needs.

I found them difficult to set up but their support team is very helpful.
Tech support contacted me through email and we spent several hours getting the camera to work Once the camera is configured correctly, the two apps, Mac and Android, do work well. I am still communicating with them and hope I can help them develop a simpler way to explain to customers how to get the cameras connected more quickly and easily. I first had the 304/4mp/3.6mm now have the 316l/5mp/2.8mm. The second one does much better in low light and has a wider angle lens. I'll update this review as I find out more. Update 6-4-2021: The camera still works on the local network, but now cannot be viewed on the internet. It turns out that for internet access the applications used to view the camera have to access it from a server. I was not aware of that fact. Tech support told me that the server has closed down. Best they could offer was to wait 3 months for some type of solution (I'm not sure what) or to purchase their NVR to view the camera on the internet. The only problem is I am worried that their NVR still has to be accessed via a server.

Now have two of these cameras. Build quality is substantial and ideally suited to the underwater environment. More than enough video parameters to allow adaption to any users specific requirements. Video is from our garden wildlife pond. Very watchable result despite being recorded through murky water and at night.

I have been using these in my outdoor pond for around a year through every season now and they have been running flawlessly. Just lift them out of the water every now and then to clean the lens from any build up.

Great SS housing - but that's it.. internal camera and NIC are poor quality, now way to up date firmware and the software is terrible... I'm going remove the junk and install Hikvision cams in the housings
