This kit does the job - I was able to make our queens from this year and last year without hurting them. The process is pretty easy overall. I do wonder about longevity of the pens you don't use right away (Since the traditional use is each color marks all the queens from once year, and so some pens won't get used for a few years). I guess time till well and I can always update this in 4 years!

Nice set to mark queens my hive still has ol’ blue churning out the brood.

This queen marker has a stop preventing you from pushing the foam plunger too high and crushing the queen on the top. I was concerned about the long holes in the top possibly allowing the queen to escape but that doesn't appear to happen.My only concerned is that while operating it there is a unprotected hollow space in the handle where worker bees can enter and become trapped.

It works as advertised. It takes a couple of shakes and tip pushes to get it flowing.My first queen mark and it was successful.

This device is really Handy. We used it at my buddies bee yard on Asian honey bees. The gaps in the top allow worker bees to eascape and keeps the queen contained. Love it.

Make sure to shack it well and get it started on,a surface before you mark your queen. I like the white cause it stands out to me the fastest and the cage works amazingly to hold her. Just take your time once she's in the cage to gently pin her to mark, then easy release back into the hive design.

Not sure why these are so watery- but they’re not like your typical posca markers.. I suspect an imposter selling fake posca
