Dachstein Woolwear 100% Extra Warm Boiled Wool Fingerless Mittens with Attached Cap

I already had a fantastic hat from this company and wanted the matching mitts. The quality of these are fantastic but the sizing is weird. I measured my hand as instructed and ordered the 8.0. The glove part fit perfectly but the mitten had a lot of overhang. Maybe as much as 1.5 inches. So I exchanged for the 7.5, but those turned out to be to small and the overhang was still about an inch. I actually considered cutting and sewing the 8" but who wants to do that on such an expensive item? I ultimately returned them. The customer service is first rate and I will order from them again in the future.

Very warm, windproof. Bought for husband for hunting. He's tried them out twice and loves them- he was deep in woods where the sun didnt reach on a day that was a high of 34 degrees with a wind warning. Was so hard to find actual 100% wool. (He'd tried other reputable brands advertised as 100% wool; yes 100% but also mixed with non natural fibers- fringing on false advertising). The end of glove parts felt just a little tight on fingers, but were fine once he actually wore them, otherwise they fit just fine, and being wool will adapt as he sweats, wears them, and as they get wet. He loved so much he also bought the Austrian wool hat and it passed the cold and wind hunting test.

Warm, thick old school mittens. The kind that got wet playing and you still stayed warm. I decided to very carefully remove the velcro and i am anxiously waiting some frigid weather. I measured 7.25 and went with the 7.5 and they fit perfectly. The cap fits over with less than a 1/2 inch overhang. I will invest in a hat and socks next now that i see the quality is there. My hands WILL NOT be cold this winter.

Great quality! Nice thick wool that feels very durable. The cuff portion extends up the wrist just past my watch. I paired these up with Outdoor Research Mt. Baker gore tex shells and they are a perfect match. To determine the proper size for the wool mitten I measured from my wrist bone to the tip of my longest finger (not diagonally from bone to tip, just straight measure the distance) and came out to 9.0. The mitts fit very well and I might have even been able to go with an 8.5 in this style but I don't mind a little extra finger room as it helps get the cap portion on/off. If there was anything I'd like to see improved on it would be using magnets instead of velcro for the cap closure - this isn't a big deal though just an idea for a product update.

This is my first winter in Montana and I would rather have old school tough than new stuff that will melt or catch fire. I am very happy with the quality. I have very large hands and I have always liked convertible mitten/glove things but the finger cap was always too short and I would just cut it off. I ordered the 9.5 and it fits me well, just slightly long. The material is thick and not very itchy. I had wool mittens as a child and I was expecting more itch. It's not really an "ITCH" or uncomfortable at all, just more like it's not as soft as cotton. No smell of any sort, tough and comfortable. I am planning on buying another pair.

You can tell immediately that the quality is top notch, but they don't fit properly. I looked at someone else's review and we shared the same problem. One other problem I had was that the mitten sections were different sizes on them; the left was slightly longer at around 2 inches of overhang, while the right had about 1.5 inches. I would like to buy a slightly smaller size to try it out, but I feel the problem would just be the same. I wish they fit me, I love their watch cap!

If you are used to cheap gloves that don’t keep your hands and fingers warm, get ready for a big difference! Fit is perfect! Great solid mittens that keep your hands warm when it is cold outside. Definitely excited to wear these when I go camping for the holidays! The only thing to think about is on the pair I received, the finger holes are a little tight. I have thick fingers but I think they will stretch a bit with time. Not too worried.

The fingers were too tight for me, but too loose for my wife, who has the same sized hand. However, with a little stretching, they fit like a glove, and are warm and durable. They are so nice, I'm almost afraid to wear them in dirty conditions.
