Awesome Blade!
I watched a lot of the reality TV show "Forged in Fire" I think it was called and they always featured different historical weapons the contestants had tot make. The hosts would test these weapons and the favorite weapon of one of the hosts was the Kukri. The shape of the blade is just cool, I have several other SOG products. They are extremely durable and they look great! They all come with a nice carrying case to conceal the blade which does have a belt loop which you can utilize for easy carry. The knife comes sharp and the saw portion along the top is gnarly. I cut my Christmas tree apart with the Kukri just to have fun and it was a blast! The saw melts through the soft pine as does the blade. The control and balance of the blade is also really nice, easily wielded with one hand. Attempted uploading pictures but want able to get it to accept my images.

Full tange, perfect balance! wish it was a little thicker though.
Update: after owning it a while I do wish that the metal was a little thicker but do feel that it is a good thickness for use while trying to save weight. If you are looking for a thicker kukri the Ontario Knife Co makes one the Spec II that is much thicker but also much heavier out of the many large knives I own the Spec II is my favorite but this one is nice for less than half the price and half the weight. Also proper use of a tool is what makes the difference of it lasting for years or breaking first time out. It is not a chainsaw it is ment for light to mid duty brush if you want to batten anything larger than a base ball use something thicker. If the blade is bending you are hiring it on an angle. You also don't want to go straight through limbs cut them on a 45* angle or close to it with taking the flex and load of the object your cutting into consideration. Don't go slamming it into logs then call it junk. Original : It came sharp out of the box with the perfect edge angle for a machete if it were finer it would roll over as soon as you used it but it still has enough to keep it slicing with ease. The steel is hard enough to hold an edge but not so hard that it would chip with use seems to be just the right balance and blade thickness is consistent with all my other machetes perhaps a bit thicker but allowing a bit of flex just enough so you don't hurt your hands or arms while hitting thick wood. The saw is filed on both sides allowing it to cut on push or pull. The butt end has a filed extension so you can use it as a hammer or for traction to help pull you out of ice or what have you. The balance of the machete on a whole is superb allowing you to spin it and catch by the handle with ease ( only try with the sheath on and/or if you know what your doing) showing that if need be it would be perfect for throwing in the appropriate setting. The sheath has a zipper making it easy to slide in and out without damaging the sheath or edge something very common with a kukri. It's size is right on point with a Nepali kukri. It is now my favorite machete and will be the tool I am using for brush clearing here on out. It has multiple holes in the handle to attach a lanyard and you could also use them to fasten it to a pole for use as a spear since there two at the top on each side. The digital grip handle provides a great grip even when hands are wet or sweaty and has enough room for your hand to fit comfortably with out pinching your hand on impact common with some machetes. The only Con is a kukri is a bit harder to sharpen due to the shape of the blade but this is inherently the same with all of them and the knife comes sharp out of the box. If you are using this for wood do not over sharpen you want the blade like they send it half knife half ax if you get it to thin it will roll. It seems SOG thought of everything with this and didn't leave you wanting in any area. If your looking for a machete this is the one for you it's the perfect all around machete and not so big that it becomes cumbersome.

Great knife, stupid saw.
It works great. Super sharp. Some people gave it low ratings because they broke there blade and even showed pictures. From there pictures and from seeing and using this fine blade you can tell they were just sacking things to hard and not at a straight. If you wack something and you don't hit it straight on it will brake. I would recommend if you do brake the blade don't post pictures cuz it makes you look stupid. Probably they same people that own this and have no reason for such a tool. Although whether you use it or not it's a great looking blade. My only gripe is the saw on the back. It's like SOG spent a billion dollars on a machine that puts a saw on a blade. So all there knifes have this stupid saw on the back. It's great saw. Very sharp and very strong. But you can't use it in real life. It makes it hard to put in the case. I've always used SOG knifes sense I was a kid as its a local company for me and they are American made. But I won't buy another blade with the stupid ass saw on the back. I hope SOG takes there losses on there stupid fucken saw making machine toss it in the trash. It's on all there other machetes too. SOG get back to making quality knifes and not dumb gimmicks like a saw on the back of a knife. I would love to see a promo video of SOG trying to use the saw. Ok that's it. Great knife. I'll be taking the grinder to the saw to at least dull it down a bit to make the knife more usable.

Great blade. Even better sheath
I haven’t had a single problem out of this “machete”/“knife”/whatever the hell you wanna call it, the thing has done its job and not let me down not once. As long as you’re not using it to try to cut through metal, you shouldn’t have no problems out of it. I carry it in my truck, it survived one hell of a wreck n it’s been used more than a $3 dollar hooker on a drunken Saturday night. Just resharpen it after about every 2 heavy uses and it won’t let you down. It’s a nice lighter weight tool that I will always keep in my truck. It’s never let me down. It may vary by user or by the product itself, some might be better than others but it’s got me through when I needed it. Nice n durable and with it being cheap, I haven’t been nice to it. So if that tells you anything at all, in which it should, don’t second guess it because it’ll withstand ALMOST anything you’re willing to through at it. Hell, I’d almost buy 2 more so I could toss em to my buddies. Long story short it’s a great blade, I think anyone will be happy with it for the price. Now remember, you’re paying less than 25 bucks for it, you can’t expect it to work like one you spend 100 on but in my honest personal opinion, it’s one of the better kukris I’ve had. And I have 3 more similar blades.

Consigliato

Nice machete. I use it to help clear snowshoe trail in Quebec and it has proved very sturdy. Lots of maple in the area and this machete can stand up to the hardwood. The saw on the back has offset teeth and can really cut. The sheath has a snap around the handle, a zipper down the blade and a Velcro close over the zipper. No danger of the machete falling out. However this also makes the machete slower to deploy. I usually only use the Velcro close on the trail. Overall I like this product a lot.
