Review: Best investment I could've made for foot surgery!!! Highly recommend!!! - I wish there were more than 5 stars!!! This cryo cuff and cooler have been a Godsend! I had bunion and hammertoe surgery two weeks ago and am so happy with this purchase. Prior to surgery I had looked into renting a cryo machine but the DME company wanted $75 a week. Knowing that I would need this for more than a week, I decided to purchase and I couldn't be happier. This is probably one of the best purchases i've made on desertcart! I opted for the large cuff as I knew my foot would swell and i'd have a bandage for several weeks. I am so glad I went with the large because after surgery my foot had doubled in size. I read several reviews with tips on usage so the night prior to my surgery I froze 4 water bottles. After surgery I came home and filled the cryo cooler with water and added 2 frozen bottles of water. I put the cuff on and filled it via gravity. The cuff filled quickly and to my surprise was very, very cold. By using the frozen water bottles you won't have to constantly refill the cooler with ice. The water bottles stay frozen for about 8 hours. When thawed out I simply swap them out for the other 2 already in the freezer and repeat this cycle. The cooler does a fantastic job of keeping the water cool and frozen water bottles frozen. I get about 8 hours out of mine. When the cuff is full of water it stays cold for about 2-3 hours for me. I chose not to stay connected to the cooler so once the cuff is full I disconnect. Filling/emptying the cuff is done by gravity so you either raise the cooler above the cuff or lower the cooler below the cuff. I've had no problems with leaking other than one time when the rubber washer wasn't on the valve correctly but once put back in place it's worked flawlessly without a drip of water. I can't say enough good things about the cuff and cooler. This really has been a God send for me. It stays cool for hours, doesn't take batteries or electricity so I can take it in the car with me and it doesn't sweat...there isn't any condensation to worry about as you would have with traditional ice packs. At my first post op appointment my doctor was thrilled at how great my foot looked. It had minimal bruising and swelling. He was impressed that I wasn't using ice packs and had made this purchase. I highly recommend this cuff/cooler!, it will help you to heal and feel better faster. One word of caution though, this does get VERY cold. Keep in mind if you have foot surgery that your doctor may use a nerve block so you won't feel pain for 24 hours (or more). This block is a life saver but it also dulls your sensation in your foot so be careful that it doesn't get too cold and burn your foot, the first day I kept it on almost non stop around the clock and realized on day 2 when I could feel my foot how cold it was...uncomfortably so after changing the frozen water bottles out so I had to reduce the amount of time I would keep it on to maintain comfort. I suppose this could be alleviated by putting a sock on your foot or wrapping a towel around it. Mine was so tender this wasn't an option. Good luck, this is a purchase you won't regret :) Review: Super cooler - I bought this following a Bunionectomy. Totally worth the money. The compression and coldness on the foot made for an easier recovery.
