I purchased this toy birthday cake to be the centerpiece of my dramatic play area in kindergarten. I have 20 students who play, work, and learn in a public school setting. I theme my dramatic play area once a month and decided to set it up as a birthday party. I looked around for birthday cake ideas. Found many. Decided to buy this one and let me tell you it's been a fantastic toy. It's been played with, dropped, put together, taken apart thousands of times and it still looks brand new. The felt flame on the candles - fantastic. The paint, velcro, etc - all fantastic. I'm planning to buy the pizza from Imagination Generation next. Thank you for a fantastic produce. (And...... do NOT buy M&D . )

I bought this for my daughter who just turned 3. She had a plastic birthday cake that was handed down to her and needed replacing, and I'm so glad I chose this one! Not only is it a pretty cake, but I can tell it's going to last. The Velcro is strong (which some people find to be a negative, but not me or my daughter)! We also love that the candles fit down into the cake and stay put (as opposed to other brands that have shallow holes, or weak Velcro holding them on). I read complaints about the knife not being functional, but my 3 yr old makes it work just fine. She even cuts it on the cake plate, which others were claiming was impossible. It takes effort, but she does it. Overall, we are very happy with this cake, and even though I now have to play "Birthday Party" 10 times a day, it's worth it! (**note: That "chocolate" piece in the middle, does not attach to the cake. I thought it was maybe magnetic or had a small piece of Velcro under it, but it doesn't. My daughter doesn't use it at all; no biggie.)

All in all, this is a very cute, sturdy toy. I was disappointed that the plate holds the cake SO snugly that it is impossible to put the cake knife through the pieces to cut them out. You have to take the cake out completely off the plate to "cut" it. Still, this is a minor disappointment. The colors are very true to the photo. It all seems very sturdy and well-made. Additionally, it is a heavy wood. I sad to report that within the first couple days the paint started to rub off on some of the corners of the cake pieces, but I'm not sure how it can be avoided with all the scraping that goes on. We have spent MANY happy hours playing with this cute cake. I think my favorite thing about it is that, while the cake plate itself is pink, it is not a big, huge, only-pink cake. Any child would be happy to play with a cake with such bright and cheery birthday colors.

This was my daughters favorite gift for her birthday. She plays with it more than any toy she has. She still cannot cut through the Velcro to slice the pieces yet, but doesn’t stop her play. Only issue- the felt flames on the candles come out easily on some when my daughter pulled them (I glued these in so we’ll see if they last). Overall, great product that keeps my daughter entertained for a while!!

My children have celebrated hundreds, if not thousands, of birthdays with this toy. I was concerned that they would keep it all together over the years, and they have because it is so beloved. We will be buying this as a toy for friends' toddlers.
