So much lost in translation.The nuances of the original German language version makes it more entertaining of a read.Nice wood prints throughout the book.I haven't seen a different English languagetranslation to compare this one to.

This edition is written in archaic English, which perfectly suits the subject and his setting. The picaresque novels are always fun to read. Fits right in with Don Quijote, Simplicius Simplicissimus, Lazarillo de Tormes, and Tom Jones.
