I initially read this book many, many years ago, but it is just a.exciting and as much fun as it was back then.

Exactly as I remembered
Though I know Enid Blyton has been criticized over the years for her simplistic storylines and worldview, the fact remains that she is the most prolific and best-selling children's author in the world, and with good reason I think. I had a rough childhood in which I was bullied and hated my day-to-day life where I had to go to school, so reading Enid Blyton's books was an amazing escape where I could imagine exciting adventures, independence, and moral worldview in which people work hard and did their best to help others. The River of Adventure has always stood out as being one of my top favorites over the years. It pretty much has everything: kids having an adventure alone without their parents, a foreign land with exotic customs and animals, good triumphing over evil... Even as a 34-year-old adult looking for some comfort reading, this book didn't disappoint, and I was thrilled to find it as a Kindle edition because my old well beloved paperback has finally started splitting and losing pages.I didn't notice any of the ridiculous abridgments or edits that have struck many of Blyton's other series, such as the Magic Faraway Tree or the Famous Five. Overall, this is a great book for kids ages 6 to 11, and I'd highly recommend it.

One of my favorite children's book author!
As a child I walked every week to the library to pick up Enid Blyton books. Her books were going so fast that I had to be there when the library opened and then there was still a limit how many books I could take home. I read the adventure series and the famous five series over and over. When my kids were old enough I ordered Enid Blyton books over the internet in India and read them to my kids over and over, then my kids read those books over and over. The concept of children living through adventures and taking care of themselves without much adult help was fascinating in my childhood and even more today.

Another excellent children's adventure story.
This time the children cruise a river with Bill and their mother, who are kidnapped by a tomb robber. The children, while following in a boat barely miss being swept into a cataract, and end up trapped inside a cave. While looking for a way out, they find an undisturbed tomb, but the tomb robber is close on their heels, and intends to take them captive. A fascinating setting for adventure makes this one of the best stories in the series.

I read these books as a child and now my grandson will be enjoying them - just as much, I'm sure:) I miss Enid Blyton:)
All of Enid Blyton's children's books are worth a read - children will relate, and enjoy the adventures, even though they don't have the same ones themselves - it is fun to get away and think about how much fun these children had. Read them to y

Wonderful Book for Older Kids
i read this book when i was a child, and i loved loved loved it! was so glad to find it here on Amazon. It's an old story, kids don't talk or dress or act like this anymore. But it's such a great tale of adventure!

A baby camel sounds fun
Enid Blyton may have written for her times, but the Adventure series is still brilliant. I grew up on Famous Five and Secret Seven (the books I learned to read on) but the Adventure series is one I still read today.
