Great boot!
These are great boots! If you have a local retailer near you I recommend stopping by to determine your size, the chart here seems hit or miss. The insoles are the only negative to these boots. They're about 1/8" thick at the heal and are marginally softer than plywood. Seriously, toss them, put in a good set and you will love these boots. Well worth the extra few dollars for good insoles. The leather is thick and strong, will likely require a little break in time for most folks but should hold up well for a long time to come with proper care. I like the Dr. Marten's Wonder balasm to protect and condition the leather keeping them looking and feeling great. The soles are a nice bouncy rubber ideal for long days on your feet. The treads are a bit more aggressive than most "Doc" styles which is great for a work boot. Nice for grip and should wear longer. The padding around the ankle and heal bed is awesome. As a welder by trade I've worn Wellington style slip on boots for years (no laces to burn off) and have never seen a pair with this feature. It offers some protection from knocks to the ankles and gives the feel of a custom fit.Classic Wellington styling combined with that "Doc" flare makes for one heck of a good looking boot.

Best boots I have ever owned... period!
I have a tendency to write long reviews when I like a purchase. I could write a couple pages on these boots but I'll keep it short today. I LOVE THESE BOOTS!!! These boots are wonderful and worth every penny. They truly are the best boots I have ever owned. They are high quality, they fit great ( I take a 8.5 so I ordered a 9 ), they look fantastic and they are comfortable. The first time I wore them I could not stop smiling every time I looked at them. I got a compliment on them the first day I wore them while I was standing in line at Target- a guy said "Hey those are nice boots, that white stitching looks great, where did you get them?" I told him they were Docs from Amazon. I like these boots so much I bought a second pair in case Docs stops making them in the future..THATS HOW MUCH I LIKE THEM:)

These boots are made to be punished
I work in a warehouse and am very rough on my workboots. I was tired of having to buy new boots every few months from having them torn up. I bought these almost a year ago and these boots are still going. They are a little rough around the edges, the sole is starting to weaken. But they still work well. Some warnings though, when I purchased them they felt a little too tight, but they broke in after a couple days and now feel fine. Also I find that the steel toe does not adequately protect my smallest toe. especially from getting hit on the side. It hasn't been a huge issue, but I have bumped my toe a couple times in that area and had only the leather to protect it which is less than what I want. This may be because of how my feet are shaped (my toes are arranged in a curve). Other than this problem I am very satisfied with this purchase and will be buying them again.

Great boots
I wear size 13 W in shoes, purchased such in this model. Those 13W fit perfectly in length and width, but the upper arch made the boot uncomfortable and difficult to slip in.I returned them for a size 14 (regular, not wide). These fit better, but I could still feel a tight squeeze at the upper arch. But if I wear thin socks, I don't feel the squeeze as much, making it a bit more tolerable to wear.I've walked maybe about 2 miles in them and they've started to wear in. Over time, I expect these to feel better, no doubt.I highly recommend these boots, but also suggest getting one size up.

Best Work Boot Out There!
I've worn this model of Doc Martin boots for the past 15 years. I'm an electrician and I'm on my feet all day long. I have previously worn Red Wings and a few other brands before finding these. The boots come padded so they need less break in time then all the others I've tried, and the sole last longer than any other boot I've had. I had to replace my red-wing boots not because of wear and tear, but because their sole wore out. These I replace every 2-3 years because I wear them for so long that they just look worn out and unprofessional when I'm going into customer's houses. And the last benefit is that these are about as easy on your wallet as any quality work boot you can buy.

Great boot at first does not last long. sizes not consistent
Ordered the size 12 boot after using a size 13 that stretched out too much. The size 12 arrived and was closer to a 10 1/2. Ordered a second pair in 14 and fits perfectly. Doc Marten boots seem to change their sizing standards over the past few years. Otherwise, after a month of hard use in the Arabian desert they still look like new with a splash of water in the sink. They broke in quickly like all dpc marten boots and were form fitted after a couple days use. Never have had a blister or sore foot with these. I would use these at the gym and for running if I didn't look silly doing it. They are more comfortable and have more support than any gym shoe I have used. For a long day trudging around a hot dusty yard, or hours driving a semi truck, or going on a trek thru the mountains, these are well worth it.PS look for the made in UK doc martens, the leather and sewing is much better than the Chinese made ones. I think the UK made doc martens have the word "legacy" in the product description.Update April 20.2011Have used these boots since October 2010. 7 months. Stitching is coming out, the leather loop on the top has broke on one boot cause the stitching was faulty. The soles on both shoes are coming apart from the shoes. Insole wore out in a month, the inside of the heel where my foot meets the back of the boot has bulged out at the back and split the leather. The boots are no longer comfortable and springy.Disappointed in the quality of Doc Marten. I had other pairs of doc martens shoes that lasted much much longer than this. This is the second pair of bad doc martens in a row. They used to be a good shoe when made in UK now just cheap Chinese junk.
