Q: Would the 550w be suitable for a build with a ryzen 1600, gtx 1060, 16gb ddr4 ram, and 2 ssds? thanks in advance!

I have the Ryzen 5 1600 and a GTX 160 3gb,16GB of ram and works fine.

450w is plenty! And allows for a modest upgrade later. According to Anandtech's test, coupled with a powerfull i9-9900k (at stock), gaming total system load with the gtx 1660 super comes in at 198w. Even allowing for overclocking etc on top of that you've got plenty of headroom. Too often gamer-heads think bigger the better - and manufacturers are happy to oblige. The only reason to go higher would be if you think you'd ever go from a 1660 to a monster, and let's face it you aren't. And even if 5 years down the line you splurged on one, you'd prob want to splash out on a nice new psu and much grander showcase rig to put it in.
