This saved my Z420
When the monumental cold front hit, we had the power go off and on a total of about 10 times in 2 days. All of this turning on and off fried the stock power supply in my HP Z420 workstation. I have plenty of regular ATX power supplies, so I ordered this adapter cable. There was nothing to it: just plug the 24-pin ATX connector into one side of the cable and the other end into the HP motherboard. It powered right up and has stayed on without issues ever since. A warning: using a regular ATX power supply may prevent you from putting the side cover back on due to the dimensions of the PSU. You can't use the stock screw locations, but your ATX PSU will rest comfortably on the ledge and stay in place pretty well. It's not the fault of this cable, but I just wanted to warn anyone who is buying this to restore a Z420 that the power supply may not fit perfectly. But it works perfectly, and now I have an 850W PSU that can power a serious video card.

Shipped fast and works great, funny no one in Phoenix, Chandler, mesa or Gilbert AZ had one of these to plug in a 750w power supply to a HP Z420 but the all said the had every connector. Drove 30 miles for nothing. I had if from this seller in 3 days. Great service.

First one didn't work, they sent a second one and it didn't work either. at least not for a z420

Exactly what is needed to connect an HP motherboard to a standard ATS power supply.
I used this to upgrade my HP Z230 PSU from the standard 400W to an aftermarket 700W ATS format PSU. It fits and works as expected. No issues.

Ordered 4 pieces. Connected to HP Z420. Powers on but after shut down and main power cable disconnect, does not power on until adjusted internally.
