Quality Tap N Die Set
Really good quality thick sturdy handles, nice tight fixing locator screws on handles, good clean crisp cutting threads, excellent sizing tools for reducing thread size smoothly. One of my better purchases I have to say.

Quality just wasn't there, half the bits fell out when I opened it .

GREAT set - HSS quality product, really nicely presented - and amazing price
So this new Tap & Die set arrived 2 days ago. I am thrilled with it.You get a full set of taps and dies - appears to be 2 of each in case you break or wear out a tool), and you have the cutters and holders, so you can easily put a thread on a rod, or cut a new thread in to a hole - full range of metric sizes on my set up to M20 !! M20 is not a size I regularly use - so great to have a set which won't run out at the top or lower end! You also have a handy pick-tool which enables you to pick out the cutter you need without cutting your hand, as they snap tightly in place in the box so they don't rattle around.Quality is great - the bits are all very sharp High Speed Steel, and cut threads a treat.I had bought this set for another unrelated job, but then this weekend, I snapped the (already rusty), axle on a piece of farm equipment, and could not easily get to it to weld in a new one, because of the layout of the machine, without a whole load of extra cutting... I was dreading a long-winded solution...Having the new tap & Die set, I thought "I wonder if I could just drill a hole in what is left of the old axle, thread it, and insert a stainless steel bolt". Well - how easy it was! Simply drilled a 7mm hole along the length of the shaft - in about 5cm, so it had a decent chunk of metal to hold, and selected the M8 cutting tool, and placed it inside the hole, gripping it with the tap-grip which comes in the tool-set. Rotating in the hole was fairly easy - and it cut the new thread like a hot knife through butter, (the axle is only mile steel). The newly threaded hole in the rusty axle shone nicely, and I have high confidence this will hold for years. All I now need to do is weld some washers this weekend over the nut I put on the end, so it stays in place on the machine side. The axle just holds the bearings - so no real lateral force on it, and the bearings are fine - and this looks like job done = new axle!! It was actually fun to do, and took literally 10 minutes. I can hardly describe how delighted I am!!This tap & die set comes in a brilliant moulded plastic holder, so you can quickly and easily find the cutting head you need. The whole thing is covered with oiled paper, so your tools will stay nice.Really thrilled with this set - it appears heavy-duty, and high quality. I am only a hobby-user - and looking at the quality, this looks suitable for professional-use - but at £40 for a complete set, I am scratching my head how the manufacturer can make a profit at this price. Just the weight of metal must cost this much - let alone a comprehensive high quality set.Re-reading this review before submitting, it reads possibly a bit over the top for a tool-shop item - however it is not often I am taken aback by something, and this is one of those times. Thanks very much for this tool, I am delighted. To be clear, I am not linked with the seller or manufacturer in any way, and I paid full price for this tool, and this review is my honest, (and delighted), opinion.
