SIZE:Okay so when I first pulled this out of the packaging and unrolled it, I thought for sure I had gotten some spare cut from the end of the giant foam roll at the memory foam factory or something. like there was no way this rinky-dink misshapen little square was going to expand to fit my bed (see my 2nd photo).But! It did start to expand on its own, and I also called my roommate over to help me speed the process and stretch it out a bit. We gently pulled/kneaded it until the edges were un-squinched and it fit the size of my mattress (in that first photo, it still looks a little too short but that's actually because there's a couple inches b/w my bed and the wall, and the pillows are over that). This process was actually really easy and took maybe 5 minutes. It also may have just done it entirely on its own if given enough time.EXPANDING TIME:Which brings me to the next thing: photo #2 (right after unpacking) was taken at 3:45pm. Photo #1 (nicely expanded and evened out) was taken at 4:50pm. So it expands quite quickly. I had the bed fully made by 6:15pm. Slept on it that night.SMELL:No weird smells at all, not even right when I opened the box.COMFORT:The foam pad is surprisingly comfy! I was skeptical about memory foam because I like a firm, supportive mattress. But this provides a good amount of support. Contours to my body but doesn't sink around me. To give a sense: I can set a beverage on the bed a foot away from me and it will not budge when I get up/sit down.I'm a side/back sleeper whose lower back is never happy (I work at a computer all day and don't have an ergonomic chair at home, so no surprise there). But I've only slept on this mattress 2 nights and already when I was stretching this morning I noticed that my back hurt a lot less than usual!Background info: I have a *very* firm mattress underneath. It's the Linenspa 6-inch spring mattress (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0113977EI/). Like another commenter suggested, I suspect the softness/supportiveness of this pad varies a great deal depending on the mattress you have underneath.WARMTH:I haven't noticed it making the bed particularly hot. But, it is December in the Blue Ridge Mountains.EGG CRATE:I was worried the egg crate design would feel weird. It does not; you can't feel it at all. I was also worried it would make the bed look lumpy and weird (I don't have a quilted mattress cover or anything over this; it's just mattress + pad + fitted sheet). It does not (see photo #4).LONGEVITY:Who knows? I've only had it 2 days :)

So my intention was to replace the foam in my dogs bed. Their orthopedic bed is 6” and this folded 8n half would fit it. I was skeptical because most foam was really hard or it was so soft it went flat. The dogs love it! It has memory and springs back when they get up in the morning. They don’t sink to the floor in it so it gives them a lot of support. I however am too heavy for this foam as it goes completely flat and there’s no benefit. So if you are 100 lbs or less this is going to feel great.

The topper is just right just like the Goldilocks rule. Not too soft and not too hard - just right. Just what I was looking for in the topper. Would recommend.
