Generic Replacement Lamp - Replaces Sony XL-2400 Rear Projection TV Lamp with Housing

I can't speak to customer service because I got this bulb, located and watched a youtube video by AboutTheTech[...]that was about replacing the whole housing (which took a little more searching than you'd think), removed the old original lamp (which still works but was dim) and put this new one in and it worked, no customer service needed. The actual time to change the bulb was a couple of minutes, and that only because I was being careful. Plugged the TV back in and turned it on, and voila, works fine just a brighter picture than before (I used dvd essentials to readjust the picture and brightness settings). The lamp has been in for a week and on for 24-48 hours and it's working great. I see it is now priced a little higher than when I got it. But even when I ordered this lamp there was one available for less. That one had more negative reviews and this one has a 1 year warranty (which I hope not to use, but is comforting) and was still a very good price considering there are others selling this lamp for up to 4 times the price.

I purchased this lamp to replace the old one in a Sony KDF-E50A10 50" television I had purchased from someone on Craigslist. When I had originally turned on my TV, I was pretty disappointed to see how dark the image was. Even with the brightness and iris settings set to the highest they would go, I could barely make out any details on most of the games I played on my PS3. I ordered this replacement lamp and received it within two business days. The installation could not have been easier, even for someone with zero mechanical skill like myself. Took more time to open the box it came in than it took to replace the old lamp. The difference was night-and-day. All of the colors are bright, crisp and vibrant, and I have never been more pleased with the result of replacing a defective part, with any product I've ever owned. This lamp turned what was a slightly disappointing purchase into the best investment I have made all year. I expect that I will be able to get great performance out of my TV for the next several years to come. Highly recommended. EDIT - It is now April 2nd of 2014. My bulb exploded in my TV a few days ago. Dropping my review rating from 5 stars to three; the price is right, and it arrives quickly, usually, but if it doesn't even last a full year, far less the 4,000 hours that it claims, then I can't give it a full five stars.

This item is very functional and was easy to install

Light was easy to change. However, since it has been installed there is a small dark horizontal bar if light near the top of the tv screen and a larger bar of light at the top of the screen. Change to a one star. Lamp quit working after 4 months. Seller will NOT respond to emails. AVOID this seller!! Won't backup their sales. Product is junk.

VERY good packaging. Works exactly as described.I definitely do not understand the negative posts - perhaps it was supplier problems, but this lamp works great for me as a replacement. UPDATE: It lasted just under 7 months. So, you're basically renting a replacement bulb for $6-$7 a month. Shipped fast, installed easily, worked great. Just dies young. Your call. Changing from 5 stars to 2 stars. It should last much, much longer than this.

Literally a 5 minute job to save a TV from the landfill. From opening package to powering the TV back up was under 5 minutes. Dusting took longer than the install. Visit youtube to get directions on installation if you need to. TV is back to a picture like it was brand new. You won't believe the difference it makes having a new bulb. The original bulb was 7 years old (far far past the life expectancy). Powered down the TV, pulled the plug, popped the side doors off, pulled out the old bulb, popped in the new, reinstalled the doors, plugged the TV back in and powered up to see the screen was bright and vibrant again. I doubt it will last 1/2 as long as the original but if it lasts just 1 year I feel I got my money's worth. The price was more than reasonable and delivery was quick. Very pleased so far.

Not a bad bulb for the price point. it does take a little longer then the factory bulb to warm up to full brightness. but its working great even after months of use. UPDATE: Well it was never bright to begin with but after a couple years it finally gave up the ghost. Guess i'll be buying a new 65" LCD screen with my tax return this year. Until the good bulbs drop significantly in price or i decide to toss it out a window.

This is the second time we have changed our lamp out since we've owned the 60" Sony WEGA HD projection tv. I think we have had this tv for 7 or 8 years. The last lamp we got lasted 2 years and lost some of the "brightness" after the first year. Blu-ray and HD didn't have that wow factor anymore. My husband installed this & the set came back to its original glory. Last time we didn't get our lamp on Amazon but at an online lamp specialty store... This time we saved more than $100 from other sites and $200 from the Sony site. It was easy for my husband to install, I suggest always getting it with the housing. It arrived in 1/2 the time we were quoted, it was very well packaged and again, the price was beyond reasonable.

ok for it's cost, I returned this because it was heating too much and brightness was not better than my existing 4y old lamp
