My kitchen sink had been clogged with standing water for several days, despite pouring several bottles of Drano down, as well as baking soda and vinegar, and using the toilet plunger. I tried a 4' snake, and that did nothing, so I got this one. The first time, I shoved it down as far as it would go. When it hit and got stuck, I pulled it in and out in short movements until it got through, then kept going. Eventually it wouldn't go any further. This did not solve the blockage. I decided to give it one more try. This time I followed the directions: I kept it all inside the handle except for the part I fed inside. When it got stuck, I turned the handle, jiggled in and out, and kept shoving. Eventually all of it was inside, and I pulled it back out, rotating at the same time. It worked! The blockage totally cleared up! I left it on the garage floor to dry for a couple of days before putting it back in, but the end of it was still wet. Be aware that the tightly coiled metal traps moisture. I shook it around and left out part of it to dry more - it is not stainless steel and will probably rust some.

Packaging was pretty limited. The gloves were nice to use, but for the tool itself, it's hard to finagle it into the piping in the toilet. I did end up getting whatever was clogging it. Worked great on the sink as well. I think it would be a lot better of a product if it used some sort of plastic sleeve to limit scratching to the porcelain. My plan is to use bar keeper's friend to try to buff out the scratches that I caused. I do wish it came with a tool to get hair out of the spring at the end.

My sink was clogged for about a week and Draino solution nevered worked and I also heard those chemicals ruin pipes so I used a short flexible snake that worked in the past and was able to pull clogged up hair that fix half the problem. I think I pushed some of the clogged up hair deeper into the pipe because it was still not draining efficiently. Order this pipe snake and read the manual that was on the back of the box. Loosen the screw to extend the sturdy wire like rod all the way into the pipe until it stopped. Gave a few inches lead and tighten the screw. Started turning the handle clockwise gently and press down gently and it went passed the turn of the deeper pipe and the tip must of caught what was left of the clogged up hair.start turning handle counter clockwise and pulled up slowly at same time and voila brought up the clogged up gooey mess. Now the sink drains smoothly without issue. Very happy with the purchase. Very simple to use. Didn't have to use any chemicals so environmental friendly. At the end I recommend pour few liter of boiling hot water with my kettle just to help rinse the pipe. Also use a dry rag and wipe the pipe snake that was emergent down the pipe so it doesn't get rusted during storage. That is the only concern. It is not stainless steel so it could get rusted if not dried well during storage. Will update if that happens when I need to use it in the future.
