Q: how long does a recharge take?

It depends on the charger. One warning, this battery has a negative voltage on the Red lead. I bought this to work with a microcomputer circuit and the polarity was wrong. Also make sure the charger is the right polarity, you can cause the battery or charger can catch fire. It was easy to change to polarity of the connector.

Q: Is this compatible with the Kobo H503456 ereader battery that is no longer available? 1000mAh?

Make sure the measurements will accommodate 44mmx30mmx6.8mm. Most like yes.
