How to open the lamp cover? We are having trouble opening the cover

You twist it anti clockwise and it should click

Can you keep this on all night if plugged in?

Yes I don't see why not. It has plastic casing so nothing external that would become hot

It does rotate and projects on to the ceiling. The couple we bought it for say that their baby is absolutely charmed with it.

Does this work only when plugged in to the charging port? Also the rotation does not work. Can anyone help please?
