3M Scientific Anglers Tie-Fast Combo Tool, Silver

I bought the regular tie-fast as well as this one. I actually prefer this one for the preferred hooks I use that I want to snell. I literally got the tool today and practiced a few snell knots, then went straight into tying rigs. The tool is a huge time saver and the knots are excellent.What’s so nice about this tool is that it allows you to tie the perfect snell knot with no outside loop. This give the knot more strength and minimizes the chance of a line break due to a knot cut, because there is not outside line loop coming back up through the hook eye. The notch at the tip of the tool allows you to keep the line perfectly in place while also allowing you to easily create tighter perfect loops.I’m also tying smaller circle hooks with a fairly short shank. These are really difficult to tie by hand. I was able able to make 10 double hook Pompano rigs in half the time it would normally take and without a single bad snell knot. The tool more than paid for itself today alone!I’ll be buying the magnum tool for my deep sea rigs! I highly recommend this!

I'll be straight: it took be several tries to learn the knot this tool teaches and is designed to facilitate. Once l got it down, I can do it easily and the nail knot is bionic: very reliable. The clipper feature is excellent, the knot-buster spike is sharp enough to work and the tool is light enough to carry in my UL Trout Fishing kit. It comes with great instructions and, if you spend 30 minutes tying knots, you will learn to love and use this tool.

*update: was able to get more movement that is acceptable now (WD40 and lots of turning). Loosened up a bit. Still tight for my cold fingers, but rather have them tight than floppy/loose.A good purchase but $20 is still a bit steep imo so knocking off a star.I always try to buy made in USA products first. This was 100% more than the next pair similar and expected it to be made well and it was. Only issue is that the knot and file parts are extremely difficult to turn. I saw this complaint after reading reviews and figured it wouldn't bother me, or that they would 'loosen up' after some time.ouch. My fingers hurt. I can only imagine on a cold morning how tough this would be!But, if you're tough and have strong fingers, go for it.. this is a great tool and the nippers are awesome! But for me, I expected a bit more 'ease of use' for $20.

This is a great little tool!! I have been tieing traditional fishing knots for years and switched to using this little tool and life is so much easier! Makes a nail knot which is uber strong and used by most off shore professional anglers. Also a snap to join 2 different line sizes! A must add for the tackle box or lanyard around the neck as I do!!

I have used this product for more than 20 years as you can also change leaders using the knot tool. There are cheaper versions in the market but I stick with this USA Made original as it will last until you lose them (I have lost at least 5 of them so I must be one of their top 10 customers). You can easily cut 5X as well as 0X tippet material and also 20Lb backing. Probably it is not the best nipper in today's market but it is a nice combination of nipper and needle knot tool.

What a great tool to have hanging around your neck when fishing. I fish in Canada a lot and this little tool make lure swapping etc a breeze. The hook sharpener is also very handy, as well as the point for cleaning out the eyes on jig heads. Best of all.....it is stamped USA. We don;t see that enough these days......any fisherman should have one. Mount it to a lanyard and keep it around your neck. It's very, very well made.

I love the versatility of this product. It acts as a hook sharpener, nail knot tool, hook eye cleaner, and nippers in one small package. My only qualm with this is the cutting edge alignment. The way the blades are sharpened, the very ends of the “jaws” don’t positively cut. This isn’t a dealbreaker, but it did catch me off guard when I tried to trim a piece of leader at an odd angle and the nippers wouldn’t cut through. Overall, a great product, just be sure to use the middle of the jaws to cut your line.

I recieved these with a dull uneaven grind on the nippers. The nail knot tool was stiffed but loosed up after working them out.
