Excellent stick horse toy! It's cute, fun, and just the right size
I ordered this Ride'Um Horse for my 3 year old, who is very into horses and cowboys right now. I chose this particular stick horse because of the size (it's not too big), the horse looked cuter than some of the other options available, and the price was right. Now that I have received it, and given it to my son to play with, I am very happy with this toy. The size is perfect, the stick isn't so long that it hits the ground or drags when my son runs around with it. At the same time, my much taller 6 year old boy still has fun playing with it as well. The sounds are very cute, and give the horse that little bit extra, and make it even more fun. I love that the sound is not loud, it's quiet, and I am very thankful for that. With 2 boys, loud toys give me headaches after about 15 minutes, and this toy is the best of both worlds. The sound provides extra fun for the boys, but it's not so loud that I want to try to remove the batteries to save my sanity. My kids are both having a blast playing with this horse. When I saw the picture, I was a bit nervous that the horse head part was not going to be very cute, but I was again pleasantly surprised when I opened the package and saw that the horse is very cute. The picture makes it seem like the nose and mouth are extra long, but on the actual toy, the horse is very cute, and the fabric is soft. The only negative I can possibly think of is the reigns. The reigns on the horse are super short, just long enough for one hand to grab on to. However, this really does not take away from my kids enjoyment of the toy.SInce both of my boys are having so much fun with this toy, I am very tempted to buy a second one so both of my kids can have their own horse. I would by this exact same horse again, and I recommend this particular toy to anyone else looking for a stick horse.

Perfect!
I rarely write reviews, but something prompted me to get on Amazon and say how happy I am with this horse. Maybe it's because all the other stick horses were huge, heavy and had inappropriately long sticks for young children (looking at you, Melissa & Doug!). OR, they looked extremely cheap - or ugly. I wanted to get one for my 2.5 year old daughter, and was sort of astounded at how none seemed to fit the bill. Mostly, I didn't want her to whack another kid in the face when she brings it to the playground, or have it dragging along the floor when she galloped. So, I decided on this Mary Meyer horse. He looked cuter than most and friendly, yet true-to-life. And, my #1 criteria - the stick size was smaller than the majority of others. Receiving this and seeing my daughter love and play with it was sort of a smart-shopping high! The quality is excellent on both the stuffed head and the wood. It doesn't look like a cheap carnival stuffed animal. It's light yet sturdy. The stick size is PERFECT. It gives her enough length to feel like she's riding it, but doesn't hang too low to be cumbersome. It's manageable to play with inside, and easy to carry outside. The "galloping" and "neigh" sounds are great. My daughter loves it so much, she called it her best friend, it was adorable! I'm always happy with a good find, especially when I've really done my research in a sea of seemingly inferior products. An excellent buy!

is there a better stick-horse out there? my answer is NAAAAAY!
as a Dothraki warrior, having a decent mount is integral not only to fighting off worthless westerners from the Free Cities, but also in impressing the ladies of the Khalasar. Ever since losing my mount, Buttercup, last summer in a game of Go Fish, I have been forced to drive my "chevrolegs" around the plains, and boy, is that tiring! until I can save enough gold to buy another horse (or steal one from a plainsman) this will have to do. I love it though, and I was very impressed by the horse-like noises you can have it make at the push of a button. The roan coloring is very stylish, and has helped me mount several of our lady-slaves without any resistance. When someone asks me if there is a better deal on a stick-horse, I have to honestly answer them NAAAAAYYYYY!

Perfect accessory for bachelorette party "barrel racing" event.
We purchased this hobby horse for a cowgirl themed bachelorette party. The girls were divided into two teams and we competed against each other in a "drag race". Each team had to - relay style - dress in costume, hop on the hobby horse, gallop through a "barrel" course around the yard, pick up a "gift" and return through the course to the starting line. As each runner returned, the next girl would make her run. Each team's runs were timed and the fastest team won little prizes. The bride now has a little girl of her own who adores this hobby horse and continues to play with it to this day. Beautiful purchase, and we've had so much more use out of it than we ever could have expected.

My 3 year old daughter loves it!
Last October we were in Disney World and had dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge. Every hour or so they bring out a barrel of hobby horses and all the kids get on the and run around the restaurant for a couple of laps. My daughter had so much fun that all she wanted to do the next day was do a horsey ride so I made a mental note to get her one for Christmas.Christmas rolled around and the we wrapped just the head in wrapping paper and my daughter first thought it was a giant lolly pop before she opened it.She still rides around with it and it is well built. Tons of fun!

Dirty and stained. Runover by a forklift?
When I opened the box I asked my wife if she had bought a used toy, because one side of the unicorns head is stained black with dirt or grease. The packaging was not damaged or even dented, so whatever happened to this toy happened previous to it being shipped. Looks like it may have been run over by a forklift. Very disappointed. Tried to wipe off the grime with a wet rag, it just kinda spread the stain around more. I give it 2 stars for "durability" for not breaking during whatever abuse it suffered in the warehouse. I also give it 2 stars for "fun" because my daughter did seem slightly interested.Least magical unicorn head on a stick EVER!
