Having read the reviews for this product I think there are a few things that need to be covered. First, the intention of a wet palette like this is NOT to keep your paints fresh indefinitely. It is meant to give you the proper thinning of your paints as you apply them. It can also provide you a perfect area for dynamic color mixing. It will allow you to keep your custom mixes for a period of time with proper storage and care.The size is perfect, the included sponge and parchment paper work well to provide properly thinned paints and to preserve those paints over an extended painting session. If you are using the right paint it will keep them wet and workable for several days......IF you store it properly (lid held on with the elastic band in a cool place).Storing in my house, which I keep at 68 degrees the palette has retained moisture for 4+ days (by then my paints had separated but the palette was still good to go).The brush storage area is a nice bonus and works well with army painter brushes and has an area for normal round handle brushes as well. All in all it's a good package, yes you can accomplish the same thing with some parchment paper, paper towels, and any plastic container, but this is a neat clean package that stores well. It's worth the money to me.Ignore the people complaining about the sponge being folded in half for shipping. it has zero impact and you won't even notice it once you wet the sponge for use. Chalk it up to one of those things people complain about for no real reason.Pros:It does the job wellHas brush storage built inSolid construction that fits together wellIncludes two sponges and a lots of parchment paper (enough supplies for a LONG time)Will retain water and save paints overnight for several nights (though there are better wet palettes for 2x the price that can do it better)This is a sweet spot in value for the dollarCons:You can DIY something that will work every bit as well as this for less than 5 dollarsIt would not have been hard for them to add a rubber o-ring to the lid which would allow it to keep even more moisture for longer periods of timeThough it will stay wet for several days, most paints will suffer pigment separation after a few hours (blame the paint not the palette for that)

I am a professional artist and sometimes use Golden and Liquitex acrylic paints. I wasn’t completely satisfied with my Masterson stay wet palette and was looking for some thing with a better design. I prefer the army painter in every way but one, and that is that the seal isn’t great when it’s closed. My paints stay wet much longer in the Masterson than in the army painter. For short term use the army painter is awesome.The master son has sharp edges and the plastic is rough. The sponge is an icky looking yellow kitchen type sponge, and the paper is thick and a little rough. The paper is too thick to saturate well, and does not keep your paint wet nearly as well as army painter. The army painter sponge is soft and white, and the paper is ultra thin. And I wasn’t sure how the paper on the army painter would work at first, because when you get it wet it curls the opposite direction. That’s fixed if you just wet both sides, and because it is so thin it’s easier for it to stay saturated and doesn’t dry out as quickly. It keeps your paint wet from underneath a lot better than the Masterson. The plastic on the army painter seems a little brittle , but so much nicer to handle. The pieces just don’t fit together very securely, and that’s the only problem I have with it. There’s just not that tight of a seal even with the elastic band around it. But overall, definitely my preference.

I was using a plastic sandwich box, wet paper towel, and parchment paper previously. It worked great and keep my paints wet for an extended period of time. So why the upgrade? I guess I just wanted something that was a bit neater on my table.Things I like about this is it looks great. Very clean and sleek looking. I love the paint brush holders inside. The foam retains water pretty well though I think I should have gotten a bit more wet. It is not as air tight as my sandwich box even with elastic band. It does the job though. It’s a great palette to have, but if you want to save money for more paints just use what I was using previously.

I thought it was just the paper but it comes with 2 sponges as well.

This makes painting minis a lot easier when the paint isn't drying out so quickly. Its compact enough to travel and or not take up too much table space while you are working. Strong plastic case, thick retaining band and great quality membranes and sheets.

They are good and great price
