The best in glass and class
Made in Japan. Engineered in Japan. It doesn't get any better than that.

Does its job
This is difficult to review. A good UV filter is intended for protection against scratches and damage, and shouldn't have any effect on the pictures. No reflections, ghosting; no nothing. How do you review something that doesn't do anything at all except protect the front element of the lens? This one is superb in doing nothing at all. You can't tell it's there at any time, except when you stick your finger on it and get it greasy. Then you can clean it and thank your gods that it wasn't the front element. I've bought cheap filters for a $2000 lens and regretted it due to artifacts in my pictures. Don't cheap out. You've spent your money on an expensive lens, and $150 for an insurance policy is a prudent investment.

Staticky - but a great filter nonetheless
I've taken several "lab" photos with my Nikon D850 and zoomed in on photographed microtext with and without the Hoya HD3 filter. I cant tell a difference. No optical degradation that I could detect zoomed 800% on a 45Mpixel image. Exactly what you want for lens protection! Per the coatings...I dunno. I have several less expensive filters and they never seem to be a static magnet like these are. So while they may harden the glass and provide excellent optical results, they do tend to attract dust more than any other filter I've tried. Is that a deal breaker? No - I have since purchased several more of them. Highly recommended!

No lens caps or worries about lens scratches, but do get dusty
I now own 10 of these for my 77 mm and 72 mm lenses, couldn't be happier. As others have mentioned, these tend to attract dust particles which are not easy to fully remove. However, I'm gladly willing to make this sacrifice for not having to use lens caps or worry about scratching or breaking my expensive lenses. I did smack one with a hammer (while not attached to a lens lol) and it didn't break or scratch, and that's good enough for me.

Not easy to clean
Image quality is good, it works well but the most important thing is you can not clean the dust on the lens, this is biggest problem!

... you've paid a lot for your glass and want superior protection without worrying about cheap build
This the type of filter you buy if you've paid a lot for your glass and want superior protection without worrying about cheap build, plastic threads and inferior glass. You feel the quality in your hand and you don't see any reduction to the len's ability to deliver.

Extra strong protection.
Very strong special protection for your expensive lens. Well worth it and I don’t see a difference in quality with or without.
