J R Peters Jacks Classic 30-10-10 Orchid Special Fertilizer, 8-Ounce Pack of 3

I bought this because I have some orchids that are ready to rebloom, much to my surprise. What I didn't realize is that this fertilizer is to be used to help the leaves, and when the flowers are ready to bloom, you're supposed to switch to a different formulation, according to the directions on the container. I have trusted Peter's plant foods in the past; this feels like a bit of a bait and switch. And now I discover that it has urea in it. The manufacturers need to 1) Adjust their product description (I'm pretty sure there are no metal valves in this) and 2) be clear up front. I likely will return. And I'm both angry and disappointed in Peters.

I am not an expert at growing plants so I can't say I've compared dozens of fertilizers, etc. Our local Orchid nursery had recommended Jack's for orchids and since they are 45 minutes away, I decided to order from Amazon. I feed our orchids once/twice weekly with this and the orchids have rewarded us with blooms. It's not a miracle product, you still need to attend to the plant's requirements for temperature, humidity, sunlight, etc. I like the fact that it is in dry form, inside is blue powder and comes with a measuring spoon. I use Jack's on my outdoor patio plants so I thought I would try the orchid formulation for my sad indoor orchids. I now have numerous blooms on old plants, and new growth as well. One container will last forever as instructions say to use 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water. This product works!

I use this plant food for my orchid and all my indoor plants; i.e. African Violets, begonia. The small tub lasts forever. 1/8 tsp per gallon of filtered, room temp water. Water weekly, weakly. That was the advice given to me by a friend who grows African violets. There is a specific plant food for African violets, but I find this one works just as well. Plants need food to bloom.

Love this product. Am using Peters on all my plants, I loved it years ago and was thrilled to find it on Amazon. Was not going to buy the orchid fertilizer since there are so many at the store, but being an Amazon addict I finally succumbed. Wow, I grow mainly Phals and the effect is noticeable. Flower stalks that had finished blooming decided to start again and the plants are noticeably fuller and healthier looking. A little goes a long way so even though it’s a small container it will last a long time.

Recommended by Hauserman Orchids. That's good enough for me. A little goes a long way. My orchid is thriving.

Doing well, orchids seem to be responding to the feeding, it is really hot in Houston, so I give it about every 10 days!
