The ultimate and ONLY Paris restaurant guide you'll ever need
Lobrano's book is called the "ultimate guide" to Paris best restaurants, and that is exactly what it is. Indeed, it is the ONLY such guide you need. We considered the first edition of this book our bible on Paris dining and were eager to see the updates in the new edition. We were not disappointed at all. In our many trips to Paris, we have only had bad meals when we strayed from Lobrano's recommendations and we just returned from our first test drive of the second edition. We had three meals at restaurants recommended by the book and came away thrilled with each one. Not only are the recommendations in this book spot on, but the organization by Arrondisement (district) makes it super easy to hone in on the neighborhoods close to where you will be. If you are planning to visit Paris, get this book and look nowhere else for your restaurant recommendations (except Lobrano's blog, where he posts updates to the book).

Knowledgeable help for selecting Parisian restaurants
Trying to decide the best places to eat in Paris can be a bit overwhelming for a first time visitor like me. The possibilities seem almost infinite. This book does a great job of offering interesting possibilities in each of the city's arrondissements. The book is well written and comprehensive, with reviews of many different kinds of restaurants, from wine bars and small bistros to haute cuisine. The author is extremely knowledgeable, and I especially appreciated the occasional chapters which gave his advice or experience with eating in Paris. While I don't normally read books about restaurants, and while I'll probably never eat at the vast majority of the restaurants, I actually enjoyed reading his reflections on what he considers the most worthwhile restaurants to consider in Paris.

Excellent restaurant guide to Paris
People say writers who compile books about restaurants and/or review restaurants for publications must get special consideration from restaurant owners, but somehow that notion just doesn't resonate with Lobrano. Reading these reviews is like sitting down with a friend who gets around more than you do, so you're eager to hear where his travels have taken him. He dishes when he thinks dishing is the right call. He doesn't hesitate to say that a restaurant is living on the dying embers of its once bright flame. Lobrano also offers fair warning about prices, types of food, level of service, snooty wait staff, and warm, welcoming places, from bistros to haute cuisine. I'm heading to Paris soon, and feel well-advised as to where to eat - and where to avoid.

Reservations Made!
I will be making my first trip to Paris soon. While browsing about online looking for information on all things Parisian, I came across a foodie blog that mentioned the author of this book. After reading the Amazon summary, I decided to order it. First of all, it is just fun to read. The descriptions of the restaurants and the owners, the recommendations regarding the food, and the reminisces of the author are very entertaining. The book is organized by arrondissement which is helpful. Restaurants, bistros and cafes at different price points are included. Contact and location information are also included.I have two reservations made for my trip already. I ordered the book in paperback. It's too large to take with me, so I ordered another copy for my tablet.Merci, Alexander!

Bon Appetit!!
Alexander Lobrano makes the Paris restaurant scene come alive in this wonderful compilation of his very favorite eateries. If you can't actuslly be in Paris, it's the next best thing.

A ranking by style would be good. ie
It is so helpful to have a curated list of restaurants. A ranking by style would be good. ie.prix fixe only, primarily seafood etc. This would make it easier to negotiate especially on the kindle. Many recommendations are spot on but some are total misses like Le Paul Bert. Finally, Lobrano has a big USA following so be ready to eat with mostly Americans. It takes away from the local experience.

The Low-Down on Eating in Paris that you Won't Find in Any Guide Book
Lobrano's food sensibility and fine writing skills make for very entertaining reading. HUNGRY IN PARIS takes you through his very selective list of the best restaurants in Paris--not the trendiest or most expensive or the hottest--just those restaurants that have captured his interest. He's not afraid to give a place a good swift quick (look at what he says about Arpege's pricey wine list or the uninspiring dining room). There are also fine food-related essays on Paris. This book would be an excellent thing to put on your iPad for your next trip to Paris. I wish I had this last year during my stay in this magnificent city. I wish all great eating cities boasted this kind of guide.

Encourages you to explore; great indexes to help find something
One of several dining guides I'm using as I prepare for our trip to Paris. I thoroughly enjoy the chapters on diverse topics (On eating the unspeakable; table for one; etc.). The personal writing style invites me to step into the other world of Paris and not stay within my comfort zone. The indexes will be really useful. Restaurants by style, price, etc. Thank you.
