Excellent snow stops a must buy - Snow Guards Excel for Four Years: Durable, Reliable, and Effective
Read to the bottom there is a post 4 years of use update After extensively researching various snow retention systems, I decided on Snow Stop's Snow Guards for my property. I've recently completed the installation of 200 units across several outbuildings. I was thoroughly impressed with the complete kit provided by Snow Stop. From the quality of materials to the ease of installation, everything was top-notch. Notably, the inclusion of a gasket was a game-changer, eliminating the need for any messy silicone applications. Additionally, the screws provided were of superior quality, which promises durability and strength. Now, the true test awaits in the winter months. In our region, we typically experience an intense period of snowfall, accumulating 3 to 5 feet within a fortnight during January or February. The consistency of the snow is often sticky and heavy, given the temperatures hover around the freezing mark. It will be interesting to observe how well these snow guards stand up under such demanding conditions. One of my lingering concerns pertains to the durability of the plastic components in extreme weather. Our summers are intense, with four months of relentless heat and sunshine. It's crucial that the Snow Guards not only withstand the cold but also resist the potentially degrading effects of UV exposure. Finally, maintenance is also a consideration. With the amount of debris typically accompanying heavy snowfall, I will be monitoring how much accumulates around the guards and how simple they are to clean. All in all, the performance of Snow Stop's Snow Guards in these aspects will be the ultimate deciding factor for their success on my property. Update: November 3, 2023 After four years of having the Snow Guards installed on our roofs, I am pleased to report exceptional performance. Remarkably, there has been no visible wear and tear—the silicone and plastic components are still in pristine condition, just as they were on the day of installation. The snow guards have proven their worth by securely retaining snow on the roof, ensuring that we haven't faced any unexpected and potentially hazardous avalanches of snow that could cause property damage or injuries. Living amidst the forest means dealing with a fair amount of tree debris, which tends to accumulate behind the snow stops. While this does not affect their functionality, it can detract from the aesthetic appeal of the building. To maintain a neat appearance, I find myself clearing the debris every year or two. For this task, I've found that a small hand broom, a leaf blower, and even a pressure washer are effective tools. It's a task that requires care, and I always prioritize safety when climbing onto the roof. I wholeheartedly endorse this product. In an era where so many products quickly fall short of expectations or succumb to early deterioration, these Snow Guards stand out by steadfastly performing as promised. They represent not only an excellent financial investment but also a wise allocation of time. I have every confidence that they will continue to serve their purpose well into the future.

Super easy to install
UPDATE: I think a double row worked properly with my recent accumulation of 1.5 feet of snow ... as well as such things can work after all. There is no way to stop "cornicing" or development of snow falling in place and hanging over the edge of a roof and causing damaged or at least gutter sagging just from that point source weight. I thought that was "sliding off" but sliding did not seem to be occurring. So adding enough of these guards DID stop the mass of the snow from sliding down my metal roof any further. In places where I had no snow guards (old guttered and un-guttered areas I was not concerned about) and where I had only 1 row of guards, I had damage to gutters in several places or the snow quickly just slid off. One section of old metal gutter was torn out and one section of vinyl gutter was pulled out (wood facing board was weakly attached, not firmly screwed in place like I have done myself). OLD REVIEW: Last year I had one row of snow guards installed per instructions. We got only 6-12 inches on the roof and the snow just slid right off. So I ordered a second batch to add to most areas making 1 snow guard per lineal foot in 2 offset rows, as instructed. It is snowing now, 6" of wet heavy snow and just warm enough that the snow is melting enough to make it slide. The sag and damage to my gutters is exactly as bad as when I had just one row of guards. I was SURE the snow guards would work as advertised. They simply don't! They are worse than worthless because they don't work and I had to pay to find out. Maybe they will work with dry snow that compacts before it melts at all. I live at 3000ft elevation in the Sierra foothills. The snow guards are a total waste of money though, I must admit, they were super easy to install.

Great build quality, easy install.
Clear poly blends into roof color. They feel very tough. The gasket makes installation easy. No way I would mess with silicone up on the roof. They go on pretty easily.

Nice product and easy to DIY if you are comfortable with your roof and a ladder
We have had a metal roof for 10 years. We live in a cape cod with a very steep roof pitch. No one ever mentioned to us about these until a gutter company came out to give us an estimate on gutters. They recommended installing snow guard to protect any new or existing gutter. After my duh moment from a number of years of figuring our gutters were old and just needed replacing I hopped online to begin my search of snow guards. Yes, silly me. Fire and ice shield and snow guards are two separate animals. We try to do as much on our own as we can. So ordered these and picked a day to get these puppies installed. We followed the chart and installed the number of recommended rows. Our fingers are crossed that these help protect our gutters. It only took a couple of hours but we were also cleaning gutters and checking measurements for more home repairs as we installed. No we didnt get new gutters installed yet. Next year. I was impressed with the kit. It has everything you need, well minus the tools. The chart was helpful to know where and how to measure. Of course I forgot to take pictures. But did find an interesting tip in some of my exploring. Clear snow guards dont leave a shadow. Where as colored snow guards will leave shadows across your roof much like a sun dial. So thankfully these are clear.

A great product
Living in Buffalo NY with a metal roof roof requires strong precautions. These Snow Guards are the answer. Super easy to install, double row 32 feet long in less than two hours, and they look great. Right now over 3 feet of snow up there and all of it is staying put. Had them on the front of the house for years with absolutely no issues. Just put them on the back after some gutter damage. Should have been smart and put them up there from the beginning. Positively work as advertised.

We recently purchased this product for our camp, and it's been a great addition, especially as the snow began to fall and create potential damage around our campsite. While I can't speak to how it will hold up through our first winter (we're just about to enter it), I can provide some initial feedback. The material used appears to be very strong and durable, which is a promising sign for its long-term performance. The gaskets are of extremely high quality, offering excellent protection against the elements. Installation was a breeze, and it comes with clear instructions and all the necessary hardware. In fact, I'm convinced that there was extra hardware included in the box, so you need not worry if a screw or two goes missing during installation. I highly recommend this product, and the fact that it's made in North America is an added bonus. It's a valuable addition to any campsite, providing protection and peace of mind during the winter months. Two thumbs up from us!

So I waited a while to do this review to see how they worked. My house is 70 feet long with garage, and I installed a metal roof 2 years ago. Last winter the snow was sliding off the roof, broke and bent my rain gutter and big pieces of icy snow would fall off at a time and were a hazzard. This year I installed 2 boxes of these, 50 on each side, all in a straight line 5 or 6 inches up from the eve. I am happy to report that they have worked very well. My rain gutter has not been damaged at all and they prevent big chunks of snow from sliding off the roof and creating that hazzard. They hold the snow back just enough to break it up and seperate it, and prevent it from forming large frozen pieces that damaged the rain gutter when sliding off and creating that fall hazzard. This is the first winter with them installed so I cant speak on longevity but I am happy with this product so far. Certainly soved my problem. I hope this helps someone.
