I loved these Hella Supertones. They're made really well, great quality. They're super loud if you install them with the relay, and even without it, are still pretty loud, louder than stock horns. They would scare a lot of people cuz They weren't prepared for how loud They are, and honestly, I wasn't ready for how loud They were, and I jumped the first time I tried my horn after installing them. They look great too, I took the metal grill off of them when I first got them, and painted them white, to match my blue with white rim color scheme on my '04 Subaru WRX, and they just looked so sweet, the white really made them stand out, mounted behind the grill of my Subie. And they're pretty simple and fast to install, only took me about 30 min at most to install them. I got a LOT of compliments on them, and would also get a lot of questions about what they were, most people, that were unfamiliar with them, thought they were speakers. The sound of these are kinda high pitched but deffinitly a huge upgrade of any stock horn, and the look they add, mounted behind your grill, is awesome. Unfortunately my WRX, that I installed these Supertones on, got stolen and never got recovered, so I don't get to enjoy the sound and look they added anymore, but if, or when, I get another Subaru, I will be buying these Hella Supertones again that's for sure. I would definitely recommend these to anyone, especially if you have a WRX or STI they are perfect.

These are some of the loudest horns around and although they perform well, their physical size may be a hindrance to people with smaller vehicles or smaller spaces behind their bumper covers/grilles. I chose to mount these on opposite sides of my radiator support beam because they wouldn't fit well in the open space behind my grille. If I had taken the time to fabricate up some custom brackets behind my grille they would sound even louder than they already are (hidden behind the bumper plastic). Initially, I had some trouble getting both to sound at the same time and it turned out that my grounds needed to be cleaned up that I made at each mounting bolt location. These horns do not come with wiring, only the horns and their relay, so be prepared to have several feet of power, signal, and potentially ground wire depending on how you choose to mount them. I also recommend buying a 5-pin 12VDC relay socket for plugging in the relay instead of a more permanent connection for wiring purposes. Additionally, these will need a fuse holder and ~15-20amp fuse for their power wire. After confirming that both work, I'd recommend wrapping your (soldered/crimped/heatshrunk) wiring in a fire-retardant, waterproof conduit (looks like tiny hose/agri-pipe) to prevent shorts or wiring failures, wrapping that in electrical tape, and mounting it all out of the way of hot areas and moving parts.

1. The Hella Supertone is a nice and rugged electrical horn. My previous horns were the Revco Air Horn, Stebel Magnum Motorcycle, and the Howard air horns. Once installed, you will be very happy with the sound. The major concerns with the horns are with the installation instructions. The instructions are of the poorest quality I have EVERY seen for any instructions. First of all, the person wrote as if they weren't from this planet! It was not written grammatically correct and no matter how many times you read the instructions, you can't figure it out! Here is the Mounting instruction from 1C. It says: (In order to avoid voltage drop please mount the relay always splash-waterproofed with the connections downward). WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT MEAN? The second problem is, it doesn't have any marking on the horns as to which terminal is positive or negative. Now I know some of you would say that it doesn't make a difference since it is a DC current. If you believe that, then try wiring your speakers in reverse. The third issue was I had to look on the INTERNET and I found 14 websites that tells everyone that the silver post on the back of the speaker is negative/ground. I contacted Hella, and received an e-mail from the company that said that the copper is ground. This tells me most people are wiring these horns incorrectly. The fourth issue is that I'm still irritated about the instructions. Lastly, you'll spend more time trying to figure out how they should be installed. If you hook them up backwards, they will still work maybe not as well. Over all, I would recommend these horns, but not the instructions. Yes they are loud... They should be renamed HELLA INSTRUCTIONS instead of HELLA HORNS. ~ Mark ~ ~ Sacramento ~

Have used these horns on a 2004 WRX and also a 2000 Civic. So here goes! 2004 WRX I did NOT use a relay and they were very loud! I used them for roughly 4 years, I mounted them clearly in the grill as everyone does, and found the paint WILL fade pretty rapidly if you are commuting normally on the highways. I simply sanded them and painted them yellow, looked great. Sound quality never faded, always consistent! However... USE THE RELAY! 2000 Honda Civic, used the 12v relay and they were noticeably louder! Put a 20A fuse inline to the battery and tuck it all away. Have been using them for several months and absolutely love them. The sound is somewhat European (German company), however, most kits are no longer made in Germany. The hookup is VERY simple. Mounting can be a little tricky, the large mounts on the back are EXTREMELY tight and hard to break loose. I ended up swinging a couple of the plates provided, outward and mounting them to radiator support and torqued them down with lock washers, haven't moved an inch.

I love this very loud and obnoxious car horn, it gets rid of all my frustration, it scares off all animals off the road, it gets people's attention and sounds great. The one thing I dislike is that it arrived as the "box" option and not the "Blister" option I paid for.
