No taste, works to calm your bird natually
I have used this product for years and had great results. It is all natural using the active ingredient in green tea to calm birds. Kind of like medicines for adhd use stimulants to calm. I love this product made by taxonyx.

Magic Macaw Powder!
I am happy to find this effective avian calming powder after the Avitech product disappeared from the market. I sprinkle it on both my large macaws’ pellet bowls with their multivitamins. AviCalm relieves my talkative girly bird’s hyperactivity, and my big boy’s aggressive toy wrestling. The magic powder has a subtle effect. My birds are not tranquilized, just perfectly behaved giant macaws both in and out of their cages ;>

Small bottle
Does not work as well as the product for calming by Unruffled Feathers. So, I was disappointed. Also, the bottle was much smaller than I had anticipated so not great for the money paid.

Did absolutely nothing for my birds

Immediate, temporary solution
This is to birds as Lorazepam or Xanax is to humans - a great immediate release medicine for panic and anxiety, but very temporary. When it's out of their system, it's out and it's done. But when my psycho budgie drinks some of the water I dosed with a pinch of this, she feels good! Gives her (and me and quiet budgie) a nice break from her usual screaming hormonal panic attacks. This is a good solution for caged pet birds. Every bird has their unique story and personality, and not every pet bird is going to be quiet and calm, regardless of training, attention, circumstances. Some birds are just going to have anxiety or extra emotions. We have to remember that pet birds are NOT domesticated, so they are still WILD animals in cages. There is NO shame in using a supplement, just like there is no shame in taking medicine for your own anxiety :)I took one star off because WOW this is overpriced for the potency!! I find I need to use a lot for it to be able to enter her system (I guess I could find an even tinier water bowl so it's not as diluted...), so this 2 oz jar doesn't last long and is so expensive! L-theanine is not that expensive! This one is the same price per ounce or less as the other makers. But come on, stop making it so expensive for birds to be happy. That's mean.

Great product
I have used this product for years to calm an anxious cockatoo. It takes the edge off. I can tell the difference in his anxiety level on days that I was too lazy to add to his food.

We've bought two 2oz jars and now I'm buying the 16oz. We're lifers!
Seriously! This stuff is fantastic. Our umbrella cockatoo is a rescue from a very poor situation, where she was kept in a cage barely larger than herself and rarely if ever taken out. She plucks and barbers her feathers. Elizabethan collars help (I've actually made a vest and collar combo that works rather well for her.)This isn't the complete solution however. She bites the feathers on her legs and crop that I can't cover with fleece, and she screams bloody murder if you don't pay attention to her 24/7.This stuff is literally a miracle worker for her. She loves it in a spoon of applesauce or her favorite--no additive peanut butter! We love our forever toddler, but this seriously cuts down on the egregious screaming due to her separation anxiety, and we've noticed her letting the feathers grow out on her legs. We've been out for a couple of weeks and she's started again with the yelling and the plucking on her legs... So we'll be buying the big bottle from now on and replenishing as often as necessary. To other reviewers: It's a vitamin, obviously it's going to wear off after it goes out of their system. It's not a cure it's a treatment. To Taxonyx, you have a great product and a great reputation, but a terrible website. Please update. It looks like something from the early 90s and looks very sketchy.
