After a few hours of being connected the network just stops having internet connection. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to make it work?

Dear Customer,
If you meet this kind of problem that sometimes repeater and mobile device will lose their connection after extension, please reset the extender to the factory setting first. (The reset button is on the bottom of the extender)
If the reset method still does not work well, please check the following steps:
a.When the indicator turns no light, it mean the repeater and router are disconnected.
   Please verify if any changes have been made.
   Enter the router interface to view the history, and check the status of the superior router.
   If the router is fine, judging the strength of the signal by indicator’s color. You can adjust the location and direction of the repeater.
b. When the indicator is solid blue
   Please check if the SSID of the repeater contains special characters or Chinese,we 
command you can set the SSID to alphanumeric combination.

Does it work with Ring Cameras?

How close does it have to be to the router?

Please don’t put the repeater too close to the router. 
It’s better to place the repeater in the middle of the router and the farthest place you want to 
Extend, or say, somewhere between 40%-50% of the signal strength.

Question 4

Does this have to stay plugged into the router with an Ethernet all the time? I thought the whole idea of this was to extend the coverage wirelessly?

Dear Customer,
There are two ways to connect your router wirelessly. 
If you have a WPS button on your router. Please press it for 3-5 seconds and it will start blinking. 
If your router have not the WPS button,please follow the detailed instructions below to setup the extender:
1.Please plug the extender into a power outlet near the router in the same room, wait until the PWR LED turns solid blue.
2.Use a Wi-Fi network manager on your client device, such as a computer or WiFi device, to _x001f_nd and connect to the "rockspace_EXT " (SSID) WiFi network. (Ensure that the Mobile Data is disabled.)
3. After the connection with your client device is established, the setup page will automatically pop up. If the setup page doesn't pop up automatically, you need to launch web browser and enter http://re.rockspace.local or 192.168.0.254 to get started. In the Password field, type the password that you wish to use to log into the management interface.
(Note: The password you entered in this step is NOT the password for your extended network, it is the password for the extender's management interface.)
4.Select a WiFi network you want to extend.
5.In the password field, you need to input the password of the existing WiFi network you selected in step 4.
