Perfect!
We like to filter our own water with a high quality water filter pitcher, and we no longer use the refrigerator dispenser. I was looking for a non-plastic option to store water in the fridge for easy dispensing, and this is exactly what we needed. We've been using it daily for a little over 2 months, and we haven't had a single problem with it.PROS:* Made of Glass & Stainless Steel - was trying to find something that didn't have plastic parts* Spout was very easy to install - took maybe 5 min or less to open and get it all set up* Dishwasher safe - a must for me!* Dispenses easily - kids use it daily* Doesn't drip or leak - absolutely no mess in my fridge* Good size - I only have to fill it once per day for our familyCONS:* A little heavy when full, but it hasn't really been a problem. I just don't let the kids try to carry it.* The inside part of the spout sticks out into the jar pretty far, so it's impossible to dispense the last 2-3 inches of water, even if you tilt it. Not a problem for me, but something to be aware of.YOU SHOULD KNOW:* You need to know to leave the lid a little loose, and that isn't in the instructions. If you have the lid on tight and use the dispenser, it will create a vacuum and the water will barely trickle out, if at all. If you slightly loosen the lid so it is not air-tight, it works perfectly.* If you plan to use it on the countertop or on a table, you either have to put it on a stand or keep it at the edge of the counter/table.Overall, I LOVE this dispenser and we use it daily. High quality, looks nice, and works perfectly.

Great storage container
Very durable - with one exception; tap is made from plastic. I replaced mine with a metal version (available online) because I knew it was just a matter of time before it became broken. I had no other issues with this container.

Wonderful, but you may want more info
I needed a water dispenser for an unplumbed greywater sink (drain only) in my Tiny House, for fresh drinking water or to brush my teeth or rinse a coffee cup. After way too much shopping and comparing of online products, and also searching local hardware- and dry-goods stores (where all such dispensers seemed to have plastic spouts), i found this-- perfectly fit the bill. All glass, metal, and that little bit of soft plastic necessary to seal the spigot on.It's a little smaller than the dimensions quoted on this Amazon page-- they are package size, not product size. If i had known this, i might have ordered a larger version; however, water is heavy and i figure about 8 pounds is all i want sitting on this spot of my homemade cabinet. I did not measure whether it holds a full gallon or not; i trust that it does, which is about 4 times the amount i was currently bringing in with a liter-sized carafe, so my life has definitely become more convenient. This gallon size measures 10 and 1/8" high x 6" across. With the spout added, it needs 8" front to back. Since it's basically in the shape of a curved block, between a round and a cube, it has a wider diagonal measurement: 6 and 3/4".In the easy assembly process, led by the tiny paper of instructions included, i found that i had two more pieces than described: metal beveled washer-covers. It was fairly obvious what to do with these; one on the front, between the spigot and soft white plastic washer; and one mirroring it on the inside, hugging that plastic washer. I did not feel that the glass was likely to break when i carefully screwed the spigot on according to directions, though i turned it a couple of times more than recommended to get it hand-tight.Voila, no leaks at the spigot, and a satisfying stream of water when i turn the little lever. Uptown! The top lid is a little loose, having no rubber seal. That's because it needs to breathe so air pressure will allow water to flow out the bottom. So don't load it in a vehicle while full of liquid. This looks and feels like a quality product that will be easy to clean and refill. The end of my water-dispenser hunting saga!

Great! ….not so great
Two things I dislike.the valve doesn’t do a complete 180 degrees just 90 to the middle to open. The handle must return to the right in order to close but that’s super super minor. The insert is plastic and is prone to scratches that will harbor bacteria. Nothing that would cause it to be returned or loose a star. From 5 stars to 1 star5day update: the spigot is complete trash. It is so lose now with very little use. I can’t even imagine it lasting an hour at get together with more than 20 people. It’s already leaking and making a mess with just two people in the home.If you look at the reviews time and time again, they tell you the lid will rust. And the lid will rust, and this company has yet to replace the lid with stainless steel. They give you a little insert that says they’re small business but if you look at their products, they see mass produced and cheap. The drill hole already has stress fractures and I doubt the longevity of this product. I had to order my own lid and another spigot a better quality one. Just didn’t feel like returning it and finding another gallon mason jar.
