Q: Can these be slipped on and off easily without using the laces?

It would be very difficult to slip these on and off without loosening or tightening the laces.

Q: Im 8.5 would a 8.5 or 9 will be good?

I have a wide 8.5 and they fit perfect, even with woolly socks. I did not have to move up to size 9 as sometimes I do with such wide feet.
